LOL

Sorry, I know the feeling.

I use that clear plastic thingie that came with the grill, a soft wet sponge and wipe it all down.

I hate the cleaning of it. I thought clean up was suppose to be a breeze, its not

It mch easier to clean when it warm...the gunk slides right off! I use a damp paper towel!

I did everything you both said...and it took me 30 minutes. The chicken came out great, but it wasn't worth the elbow grease! And it ruined 2 sponges! LOL. I was ready to put the whole **** thing in the sink!

I clean it with a damp sponge too...and yes, I dread the clean up which is why I hardly use it anymore.

That is the worst part of it. I don't understadn why they can't make the plates removeable

LOL!!

I couldn't WAIT to get one...and now I can't WAIT to get rid of it!!

The food comes out GREAT but I agree...NOT worth the pain of cleaning it!

Jenny that would be perfect if the plates were removable. I love using it as everything comes out great, but I hate the clean up.

I cant tell you how many times I either wanted to throw it out the window or in the sink

I clean it right after I un plug it.

I first scrape all the grisel and big stuff off the grill.

I then take wet paper towels and I clean the rest of the stuff off the grill.

I then take a dry paper towel and wipe the grill down.

It is very funny that you posted that because we have the same problem. I also have a rotisserie in like 5 different pieces and it's easier to clean that. One other trick we've discovered is not to season anything until AFTER it's cooked because a big part of the mess to clean up is the seasoning/marinade on the meat itself.

My MIL has a round grill that she can submerge....I'm thinking of getting one and getting rid of this thing! I'd rather have to stand over it and flip than spend 30 minutes ruining sponges.

I have a spray bottle that I fill with warm water. I spray the grill while it is still warm then wipe down with paper towels. Just make sure you keep that little drip tray underneath or else your counters will be a mess

I also find when you clean it after it is still a little warm it cleans easier. I had one a few years ago that seemed to clean so much easier. We got a bigger, new on and it seems much more of a pain to clean.
eta - I also use paper towels!!

I found the trick to cleaning it so now I am constantly using it. What I do is I wet it a little with some soap and water than turn it on. When its a little hot I unplug it and a few minutes later I wipe it down with a sponge and it automatically cleans itself. With the sponge I squeeze clean water on to it and everything just drips right now. I do this with it half over the sink and the other half on the counter. It takes literally 3 minutes.

I do the same thing as Latina. While it is warm I spray some water hold it over the sink and wipe it down. If stuff is really stuck I use some orange fantastic (just a little) let it sit for a minute or two then rinse really well.

How funny Misty!!! I hate using my George Forman for the exact same reason!!! Everyone raves about the thing, but cleaning it really is a big pain in the butt!!!!!!

Re: George Forman Grill owners...

It's annoying. I use a plastic sponge to scrub the grease, and let it sit for about 30 mins. Then it's still a pain to wipe in all those grooves, but at least it comes off easily....and I wonder why I hardly ever use it anymore!

You can put your sponges in the dishwasher to clean them. we put them in a basket thingy on the top shelf. Come out like new.

Re: George Forman Grill owners...

I don't use mine that much anymore, but when I did, I would just put the whole unit in the sink (with the plug out, obviously) and use a brillo and the hose of the faucet to clean it off. It was cleaned with water, but never 'submerged'. So much easier, and it the water never did anything to it.

So go ahead, clean it in the sink. Take a risk. But be sure you unplug it first!
