HOW DO YOU CLEAN IT WITHOUT WANTING TO THROW IT OUT THE WINDOW?!

Re: George Forman Grill owners...
Do you have one of those spray things on your sink? When you have finished cooking, before you pull out the plug, put it on the edge of your sink (so that the water run off goes directly into the sink) and start cleaning it by spraying it with water and use the plastic thing for anything stuck on. Even if you don't have a spray thingy, slowly pour water over it. At that point, the stuff is not caked on and usually cleans off pretty easily. We've had ours for years and the inside looks brand new (forget about the outside, it is white and discolored!!!)
Edited to say: I just called my husband to see if he keeps it plugged in (because he in fact cleans it) and he says he keeps it plugged in at first, but unplugs it midway through.

I loved my George Forman but the cleaning was terrible. I threw it out because I couldn't take it anymore and I bought a grill pan for the top of the stove and it works just as well and it's a pleasure to clean.

Surprised we are still alive, but...
A few times I got so frustrated, I used Easy Off oven cleaner. It came off 1-2-3!! Then I washed it really good with soap and water. Probably not the best thing I could have done, more likely probably a very dumb move, but we are still here!
I find it pretty easy to clean...as long as it is warm...the plastic thing and paper towels...then wipe down with a sponge

I plug it back in so its nice and hot. Then I unplug it and wipe down with a damp sponge. Its very easy to clean when its warm. George Forman makes great burgers, steaks and grilled cheese sandwiches.

I sort of stick it in the sink under the water. Usually I try to make DH clean it... its easy to cook with but a nightmare to clean.

don't cook right on the grill... cover the thing in tin foil, works the same way... then just remove and toss out!

Re: George Forman Grill owners...
I've never found it hard to clean. I've cooked hamburgers, chicken, sausage, and it's always been easy.
I unplug and set it by the sink so the water will run off into the sink.
I use one of those round brushy things with the plastic bristles. Squirt a little soap and water on it, get the whole grill wet and use the brush to just swoosh everything into the sink. I do this on the top and bottom. The water from the top just runs onto the bottom half. Never any problem and I do it cold, after it's been sitting while we eat dinner.
To help get off the soapy water and anything that might be left behind I use one of those sponges that has the plastic net cover - I think it's called a Dobie.
Then I just dry it down with a paper towel. Easy! It' takes about 5 minutes.

Re: George Forman Grill owners...
I'm selling mine at a yard sale next month because it's really annoying to clean. The grilling plates should come out so you can wash them separately.
However, when I was still using it I use to tilt it over the sink and wipe the crapola off it with a paper towel and them soap it up and keep rinsing it very carefully, letting the water drain down into the sink. Too much work!

wet paper towels (i like coronet brand - they are almost 'fabric-y') when it is still warm.....and many a time i think, maybe i should just buy a new one...i've found the longe rit has to cool off and solidify the harder it is to clean!!

You definetly have to clean it while it is hot. I use a wet sponge and it comes right off.

Re: George Forman Grill owners...
I just read this post... it is sooo true! For this reason, I use the bbq grill up until like January, when I absolutely can't take the cold anymore, then revert to using the **** foreman grill in Feb-March and when it rains! I usually do what November sue does, only I use a nylon bristle brush made by george foreman, which does the trick w/o damaging a sponge, or wasting a roll of paper towels!
