Getting back into shape....

Getting back into shape....

Who knew it would be this hard?!
I have always been a very petite girl...five feet, 105 lbs. I have never had a weight problem. I gained (gulp) almost 40 pounds during my pregnancy, but I never thought it would be THIS hard to lose the weight. I have 10 more lbs to lose to get back down to my prepregnancy weight, but I seem to be stuck. I know that since I am breastfeeding, my breasts are obviously heavier, plus my body is storing some extra fat too. I can't diet yet because I need to eat enough calories to be able to nurse and keep Lyndsey healthy. So, I have been exercising whenever I can, which unfortunately is not as often as I'd like. We take a walk everyday (2 miles or so) and I just got those Winsor Pilates tapes, which are awesome so far.

I guess my question to you mommies is...what did you do to get back into shape?! I never knew it would take this long!

I have the terrible 15 to loose to get back to pre pregnancy so I can't help too much. If it makes you feel any better egreen I didnt do anything different for the first 8 months of Emmas life. I gained 58lbs with her and lost 43 by nursing and taking the occasional walk (it was winter). To loose the 15 Ive joined Curves, started doing pilates and just recently been trying to get rid of the carbs (not completly because Im still nursing and I need to keep a healthy balance).

Maybe your doctor can give you some advice. Im sure they get it all the time.

OK....I just saw your pic with Lyndsey so what are you even talking about, girl????!?!?! LOL! I know it's all relative though so hang in there, you now have the body of someone who's been through childbirth and it definitely changes your body. What use to work might not work the same as far as exercise and toning. I know for me, I never had a stomach, hips yes, thighs yes but never a stomach and now! ugh! But it takes time definitely. Be gentle with yourself, you deserve it. And I think you look beautiful with your gorgeous girl in that pic.

My theory is that you didn't gain the weight in one month so it will not come off in one month. I sorta believe that it takes double the amount of time to lose weight as it does to gain. I think 10lbs is ALWAYS hard to lose!! If you just maintain for a few weeks, and then add one more exercise tape session I bet you will begin to see it come off. It will just take time.
P.S. I DREAD this part of 'after the baby'. I have always struggled with weight and losing weight is always super hard for me.
