I saw the other day that someone posted as though they felt like vendors were charging them more because of their venue and I am going to be honest. I feel the same way! We priced out two very popular DJ companies that we love and the packages that we got in comparison to the packages that other girls got do NOT compare! Im pretty upset right now ... and quite frankly have no idea how to address it!

Re: Getting Cranky ...
everybody has an angle in the wedding business... try calling one of them back and ask them for a date close to yours at a different location...

Im not even sure what that would do ... I wonder if I can say 'Listen, I know you gave save girls amazing deals for the same items and I want a price match!' LoL One of the vendors is very popular on here and it really makes me second guess their work.

thats not a bad idea either... obviously as long as you dont tell them who it is that they gave the better price to...

I'm sure that they'd be willing to work with you if you let them know that you spoke with someone who got a different price. Also, keep in mind, I'm sure that they charge different prices for different times of the year. They'll charge more for peak season.

I agree - as your date twin I know i was told TONS of times how popular the weekend we are getting married is! So that might be something to take into consideration.
I would push back on them and like another bride said, just dont mention who you know got a better deal. But you have every right to question it especially if its a vendor who seems to have a good following.

Re: Getting Cranky ...
thanks girls and yes my date twin i agree. i have NO problem pushing back when i have to. i guess its just upsetting to me when people are getting substantially lower rates. its a tough economy and regardless of the weekend we choose its neither here nor there. you either want the business or you dont! im just surprised at the varying price ranges. i need some encouragement! lol

Re: Getting Cranky ...
Maybe it has to do with your date? Is that Memorial Day weekend? Or maybe just cause it's peak wedding season?
I dunno. My DJ is very expensive as well, but that's just cause they are...

I completely agree with you! It should make no difference when the date is...you are doing the same thing whether its in June or December. But that, unfortunately, is how they get you! But don't let them get away with it!!! They need YOUR business, you dont NEED them...there are plenty of other companies out there!! Be strong!! :0)

I wouldnt expect to pay the same from May to December ... its totally two different seasons! But from May to June there shouldnt be such a difference!

Re: Getting Cranky ...
You can totally throw it in their face… someone I know got married in December and another in March. Both were friends, and saw some of the same vendors. They would go in and say… well my friend is getting married three months from me and is getting this cheaper. Or say.. I went to so and so vendor and they gave me a cheaper price for the same thing. You have to negotiate with them. Honestly – I think that three quarters of vendors expect us to go back at them and negotiate. I am sure they hope that we just say ok we will book, but I am sure they are prepared for negotiations. Some vendors I checked out, DJs in particular, gave 2 different prices to me and my friend and we had back to back appts and were asking for the same thing! It is CRAZY!

Re: Getting Cranky ...
Im a week after you and its making me want to scream! Future hubby isnt always the most vocal so it has to be me and I dislike it! I emailed both companies to see what happens. It amazes me. We made one more appointment with another LIW vendor.
Perhaps one of them will read this! PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE help us out! We love you, but cant afford you! ha ha

Re: Getting Cranky ...
The main reasons your DJ quotes were higher were..
* the time of year (like everyone says, the whole entertainment industry is semi-dead in Jan-beginning/middle of March and the prices reflect that).
* The set up you have. Saying, 'I have a light package' doesn't mean anything. Find out exactly what your getting quoted for (Mx1's, LED, intel, etc)
* Who is your MC? At some companies the more popular MC's cost more then another MC at the same company. That might be reflected in your price.
*'It's not about what you know, it's who you know.' I couldn't post what I'm paying on here b/c I know it would be at least double for the avg. person walking in. So keep that in mind.
*How busy are they that weekend? For example, I got a discount from my photographer b/c I was the first bride to book within that entire weekend so he gave me a % off. They are more willing to negotiate if the need the work that weekend.
HTH.

Re: Getting Cranky ...
Well in response to the post above (and thanks everyone) ...
Sure its during peak wedding season but I am getting quotes from girls who are getting married at the same time and theirs are cheaper from the SAME company!
They had every MC availability and we never specified who we wanted so there couldnt be that issue. Although I have no idea what they are doing for the other days of the weekend.
I meant LED uplight packaging and truly some people were asking for MORE than us and their quote was lower without 'connections.'
All in all ... it has really upset me. If I had the money it wouldnt be an issue but $500 is a lot of money at the end of the day when someone else is getting more for less than what we were quoted. Does that make sense?
WAHHHHHHH!

Quotes from girls getting married the SAME DAY? Like, Sat at the same time On Memorial Day weekend?
I'm telling you it's because of the holiday.

Re: Getting Cranky ...
Both places have been in contact and are seeing what they can do. I feel bad since I know its a hard time financially for everyone, but at the same time what is fair is fair. Wish me luck!
