getting married on the 4th of july

So now the FH and I are thinking of getting married the day before or on the 4th of July, as it's close to our actual anniversary. Anyone get married on the 4th? Can anyone think of any negatives to getting married on the 4th besides the possibility of it being super hot out? TIF

I think its a great idea, only thing to consider is people going away, however, if you make sure to send out save the dates in plenty of time i think it should be fine. GOOD LUCK

I've been to two weddings on July 3 and ours was July 9---I agree make sure you send out STD since lots of people make plans but it's a great time of year to get married (of course I am biased!)....we actually had unseasonably cool weather---in the mid 70s on our day.

My FH wanted this date..but I thought it was way too hot!!! But besides that, allot of people go away for the 4th of July weekend.

i am a BM for a july 5th wedding.

some negatives might be:

people go away, make other plans
hot out
hotels book up QUICK if you need to block rooms, my cousin (the bride) booked her rooms last month and had problems finding a hotel that wasnt sold out.
if you have a lot of OOT guests flying in, plane fare might be pretty high

other than that you should be fine!! good luck!

I am getting married on 7/3/09 and everyone said to me, 'well people go away and stuff' so for every person who said that I asked them, 'where were you last 4th of July' and the answers were umm at your house for a bbq or home doing nothing. The majority of my close friends and family come over my house anyway so it wasnt a big deal, in 09 they will just have to get a little bit more dressed up.

We were also planning on doing an after party on the 4th for all the OOTers

my parents got married on the 4th of july, and it was always fun celebrating their anniversary every year with the whole family at a bbq...

Regarding the weather... I got married July 7th LY and it was BEAUTIFUL out... just make sure your church and/or RH has AC!

As for the people who go away... so they go away... anyone who is close to you will make sure not to plan their vacation that week... I wouldn't worry!
