Getting Nervous for '08 Wedding...Will I get there?

Original post by Madorie

We've seen 8 or 9 places so far and they've all been either too expensive, completely not our style or there were just one or two things wrong w/ the facility.

I'M SO FRUSTRATED!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Is the wedding hall supposed to 'hit' me like the wedding dress is? I'll know it when I see it and I'll be wowed or are some people just taking what's good enough?

i am most definitely biased, but you should check out the swan club. the prices are really reasonable for what you get and the grounds are amazing! also if you want to have ceremony on site, i think they have one of the best spaces for it (an outdoor pavillion)!

I agree with everyone. Keep looking. We looked at 18 places before we found the right one. There are many many places to find.

You will find it and get 'that feeling'. Good luck.

Don't worry the rh is the hardest, at least for me it was. We looked at 15!!! I was ready to sign by the second one we saw!!! My FH is very picky so we kept on looking. Not to say it will take you that many, but I learned not to settle. And I was with a lot of them. The more we looked the more I realized what it was we were looking for. where in the beginning, I didn't' know what I wanted

So take your time, but active in looking, if that makes sense...lol

You'll find the one

We looked at a few hall, but we knew our was the one from the moment we walked in. And after that we stopped looking.

When people told me that I would know, I didn't really believe them b/c I didn't know what the feeling was like....but something will come over you and you will know. Good Luck! You'll def find something

Im with you in that boat. I've looked at a few and not found anything that I like either! Im not freaking out yet though, there's still over a year for a fall time wedding. So don't stress too much, just enjoy the process! But like everyone says, it will definitely hit you when you find it and you will just know.

We are going to look at RH #10 tonight and #11 and #12 tomorrow. Maybe we'll have some luck. My FH is going out of town on business so I'd like to have a RH in mind before he goes so we don't waste another week.

I want us to choose the RH together so we can both fall in the love the right place and be excited about it together!

You're all right, there is something out there somewhere for us, we just have to find it.

mine hit me for the price mostly.... but that said it also was one of the few we liked without tacky mirrors and lights and lacquer.... just depends what your priorities are i guess...

honestly, my rh hit me more than my dress did...

ITA - i would keep looking. and i honestly believe, more important that the feel of the place is the feeling you get when you speak to the banquet mgr. i loved bridgeview when i booked it - but it was the feeling i got from the BM that made me feel truly comfortable and know that i was making the right decision.

our RH hit us right away.
we were actually booked somewhere else but got nervous because we hadnt looked anywhere else.
we walked into the lobbey of our current RH and we both said 'LOVE IT!' we knew before we were done with our tour that we'd be booking there.

I have another 2 hours before I go to the 10th RH! It's going to pour!!!! There are huge rain clouds hovering over the City. BUMMER!

Check out the snapper inn in Oakdale. If you do Sept. you can have it in their pavilion, it's awesome - it was my 2nd choice. really laid back and gorgeous, and the food is excellent! affordable too.

Dont worry you will find your place. I totally went the opposite direction of what my first plans were for a RH, then it hit me.

i loved my hall from the first picture i saw of it. You have to be happy. just know that no place is perfect. there may be 1 or 2 things you might not like about a place. weigh the pros and cons. thats what i do with everything. Good luck. the right place is out there for you!

Ideal Wedding: around $100pp (180 guests or so), something classy not gaudy, not out dated, nice grounds - on the water, gardens, fountains - just something pretty for photos and ceremony, bright reception room - clean, simple, good food (OF COURSE lol), great service from staff.

I would love a late Sept/Oct/early Nov Saturday or Sun afternoon wedding, obviously Sat. night would be awesome!

Am I asking for too much!?!

no you aren`t asking too much!! this is your day you need it to be what you have always dreamed of!!! where are you located and how far are you willing to travel?? and where have you looked so far?

Larkfield Manor was the first place we went to, and no, it didn't 'hit me.' I thought it was nice, the people were nice, and the price was good...
So, we went to 12 other places...and realized that for the price, and what we were being given, Larkfield was the most beautiful, and appropriate. Then we tasted the food, and almost hit the floor it was so good. our total per person, after tax and gratuity, and with an extra hour, including mini viennese trays on each table...is $95. but, that's for February...
I chose places that had a price range, according the the magazines, that $100pp was the higher end. We didn't even go to places where we'd been to weddings before, since we wanted someplace we'd never been to.
Floral Terrace, one of my favorite places, but, we've been to three weddings there...
we wanted a place that could just be ours...
as for Flowerfield, by far, the best wedding I was ever at...but, according to the price list I saw...you can't even walk in the door for $100pp...their Sunday afternoons start at $150 a head...
Good Luck, and don't lose hope, you'll definitely find it...you just have to do a little leg work!!

Have you looked at North Ritz Club?? If you go off season (even November) their prices are very resonable. They give you SO MUCH FOOD, and all i've heard are the best reviews. When FH and I walked in, I knew at that point we were going to have it there. They have a very nice area with a gazebo and a little water fall and a pond with a fountain etc..We also looked at East Wind which was soooooo nice as well. The only thing was the distance, but in the off season they were just as reasonable. At least in my opinion lol

I hadn't looked at NRC. It's beautiful! If FH and I don't like what we see tomorrow, I'm going to see if I can make an appt!
