SO i am really looking for people to RSVP NO cause our guest list got out of hand....but i am shocled that people are RSVPing NO cause i didnt invite them with a guest. Its not like they dont know anyone there lol its fine with me i save $$ that way!! i am crossing my fingers for at least 40 NOs so i dont have to owe anymore $$ to the hall. I didnt invite anyone with a guest unless they were married engaged or a very long term relationship....i am not paying for people to bring joe schmo off the street into my wedding! its bad enough i hardly know some of the family memebers we invited lol
people just amaze me!

i know!! if we invited everyone with a guest we would have had like 300 people i cant afford that!!! its bad enough i had to invite my aunt and all 5 of her family members and they are friggin cheap and all over the age for frr or 1/2 dinners so im paying like 700 to feed her family alone!!!!!!!! my E-party ( and mind you this is my godmother) she gave me a photo album from tri county with our names on it and a stand from the dollar store!! and her whole family came!!! UGH people are hilarious!

Not to be rude or anything but if you really don't care about any of these guests attending your wedding, then why did you invite them?
I personally can understand being offended not being invited with a date if the person has a boyfriend, even if the boyfriend isn't long term. When I was with FH only 3 months things were already getting serious and I would have been offended if someone didn't acknowledge that in an invite to their party. Of course it's your wedding and you will do what you want, I just can't relate to the feeling of hoping people rsvp with a 'no'.

I've been invited to weddings w/o a guest. It never was a problem for me personally.
I know that someone in my family did not attend a wedding b/c their children weren't invited. It was adults only and they got offended. People will always find a 'reason' to decline. I am hoping to get a few no's myself.
Does this make us evil brides??

i had to invite them cause they are family...FH and I are not close with our families most of them we havent seen in years in some cases not since we were babies but they are family so they have to be invited.....as for the guests the fact that we hardly ever talk to them how wo uldwe know they have a bf/gf.....i b onl yw a nt edtoinvite150 my minimum is 125 but you can invite sopme and not the others ...so far the NOs have been people we really dont know....i am hoping fo r ye s 'sfromallt hepeo pleiwa ntthere. Not everyone is close with their extended family ya know?? and we invited out of state guests because they knew we were engaged but i know they wont come....our family is not the type thats gonna hop oin a plane to be at our wedding.....if they were local then maybe. Just being nice by extending the invite...if they say yes then fine if not thats ok too. as long as i end up with the peo ple i want most there im happy
what about people who have to invite their parents co workers and stuff.....its the same thing. i see posts all the ti meabout fmil adding this one and that one...you do it to make them happy and just hope they say no! lol i dont see anything wrong with that. Are you close with every person you are inviteing to your wedding?? i you are great but i am sure you have a few that you really dont care if they show up or not....everyone does!
i wet to quite a few wedding in the last year that FH wasnt invited or whatever he was fine with it so was I ......i guess i am one of those people who are not easily offended lol not much bothers me im really too lazy to care either way

I see what you are saying- I think I read it wrong, thinking that there are friends that you were hoping wouldn't come! I didn't realize it was all people you aren't at all close to or barely know. But yea, I am like that too, there are distant relatives invited to mine that I am afraid I will have to be INTRODUCED to at my wedding because I haven't seen them since I was ... hmm .. .have I ever seem them before?!?!

Can I play devils advocate here?
I understand what she is saying because when my best fiend got married she invited everyone with a guest. many of the people in our little circle didnt have GF's or BF's. Well the people who didnt have BF and GF's all asked the most random people to come. She ended up paying over 1000 for people that were invited for the heck of it. Also, it opened the door for people that werent originally invited to come because they were brought as guests.
Just last year, one of our other good friends got married and he invited someone in our group. When this girl found out that someone else who is in our group couldnt come here she had the nerve to ask the groom if she could bring someone in her place (mind you it was one of the girls flavors of the week). This all happened before the RSVP date.
I can see why Heather doesnt want to do this. I am inviting with guest if they are in a relationship only.
I also can see the point of hoping people say no because at over 100 a head, 10 more people is another 1000! Guest lists can get out of control especially if there are people that you 'have to invite out of curtosy' or relatives that you never see but have to invite or they will get mad

We're not inviting dates either for the same reason. How do you know that is why they are not coming to your wedding?

Re: getting 'NO' RSVPs people are hillarious!
i would never expect anyone i know to not be allowed to bring a date.... i think theyd feel awkward at a wedding w/o one... i accounted for that though with my number of invites.... to each their own, good luck!
