Does anyone know anything about this? I was thinking about asking a friend to get ordained and marry FH and I. Has anyone else done this or is going to be doing this?

Re: Getting ordained
My friend had her uncle get ordained for her wedding, I'm not sure where he did it, but I just found this site that will do it for free.
I didn't read the details, but maybe it'll help.

DH's sister got ordained to marry us...she did it online (sorry, no idea where)...but when we went to get our marriage license we saw that the organization she got ordained with was NOT an accepted one with our town hall!...soooo what we ended up doing was having SIL do the majority of the ceremony...and then had our Town Clerk (who is licensed to marry) perform the necessary part of the ceremony to make it legal...it actually worked out really well, and the Town Clerk only cost $75 to come! That is always another option...good luck!

Thanks girls. Thats not a bad idea about the town clerk. This is all really to save some money anyway.

Re: Getting ordained
We are having a JP marry us, when I asked him about his fee he told me that by law JPs are not allowed to charge for a marriage ceremony.
Woohoo! We will of course give him a gift or tip - but that is another way to save some money

Re: Getting ordained
i was thinking of doing this too, having FH's brother get ordained online and marry us. but there was an article in the long island paper recently saying that not all districts consider that a legal marriage. did anyone here this too?
