Getting ready at a hotel
I'm getting on 4th of July, which is one of the biggest holidays in the year. Fh and I have already booked two rooms at garden city hotel. I have a large bridal party (half of them are kids). The two rooms will certainly be cramped. I'm thinking of booking a third room because the fh family lives in Staten Island and the thought of them driving to Westbury on 4th of July makes me sick. It's not the driving but the traffic. I would like them get to the hotel early and rest before getting ready. The garden city hotel is not inexpensive to say the least. Should I pay for another room or should I save the money. The room that would make the most sense to book would be about $800 per night. Any advice guys?Kind to think of it, I don't want to have a lot of people in the room I'm getting ready in.

Getting ready at a hotel
I just booked Westbury yesterday!! $800 is a lot of money would it be wrong to see if they will split the cost? or maybe try a different hotel thats a cheaper not far away?I agree you don't want everyone in your room getting ready cause they will probably drive you nuts lol

Getting ready at a hotel
I would suggest finding a less expensive hotel for the rest of the family. It's really a huge expense for you guys even as a nice gesture. And a huge expensive for the family for them to split. if you're ok with the travel from hotel to hotel for getting ready then do some research on the closest hotel to the GCH, block the necessary rooms and go from there. This way everyone will be near by. Everyone can still have breakfast with you and get ready with you but the cost is much more affordable. I blocked our rooms too for my family and guests. But we went out to plainview which is close to the ceremony in Levittown. The rooms start at $159/night. We felt that was as fair as possible for a descent hotel and when we discussed with our families they both agreed.

do they have a conference/meeting room you can rent? I booked one at my hotel and they are going to set up mirrors and chairs so we can all get ready there- i did not want to come back to my hotel after the reception to a disaster.

Getting ready at a hotel
I agree about finding a less expensive hotel-personally if I were a guest I would just find my own hotel because I don't know many people who have $800 to spare on a hotel room for a night. If you're comfortable paying $800 for them that's very nice of you, but Im sure they will try to give you money for it once they know how much it cost and then that's an awkward situation for everyone.

what about the Hilton? Maybe they can provide a shuttle to and from the hotel as well...and maybe also ask what the other bride suggested a conference room to get ready

Re: Getting ready at a hotel
Garden City Hotel has a room set up with mirror and vanity. They have breakfast set up in the room. Hooks on wall for dresses. It is fairly a large room. Like a conference size room.I went with a team of 3 to do hair and makeup for 12 girls and we were quite comfortable.
They went above and beyond for the bride during the process of getting ready.
Some of the guests stayed at Viana Hotel. Hope that helps. Good Luck
