Re: gift advice

Since you rsvp'd and are attending the wedding, I would give a monetary or registry gift... While I understand visiting your family and going to the wedding during the trip, I find it sad to think you are only going so you can visit others at the wedding and not the bride/groom... it sounds tit for tat to me, and if you want to maintain the friendship then I would think about it...If you don't want to maintain it, then I would go visit my family, send a gift and tell her you can't make it afterall.. End friendship... It sounds so phoney and sad..I understand why, as she failed you, but I wouldn't bother with her....

Re: gift advice

So I read your post and some responses. I believe that you have a choice of:
A) buying and gifting something off the registry at about $50 or $60. There has to be a waffle maker on there somewhere
B) giving a $100 monetary gift

It's quite simple. You said yourself that it's $30 a plate for their wedding. Not like it is in NY. Your presence really is gift enough too.

Re: gift advice

We are going to a wedding of our two close friends in October, and they gave us a $20 champagne glass. Yes, one glass. The guy was in the BP, too. We thought about this for awhile, but we are going to give them $150--it's half of what we would normally give, but it's way more than they gave us.
