Gift with no card... any suggestions?

Gift with no card... any suggestions?

There were a good number of guests (4 couples) who got us just a card, and then another 4 couples who didn't get us anything at all. And then we got a gift wrapped very nicely but with NO card at all. It's not something we registered for so we can't just look it up at Macy's.

What do we do?

I'm thinking we send these 7 couples a general thank you for coming and just hope one of them asks if we received their gift. Any other suggestions?

Then this one couple gave us a generous check but spelled our last name wrong (off by one letter). I hope the bank lets us cash it anyway.

this is a tough one because its not like you can go around asking the couples if they gave you the gift! So yes, i would do what you said.. just send them general thank yous and hope that the couple who gave you the gift would follow up..

I agree with sending the couples a generic thank you hard.
With the bank it should be ok. Normally on the memo of the check they will write wedding gift or something like that and the bank will cash it.

I hope so! We are cashing a whole bunch of other checks at the same time so I'm hoping it won't be an issue.

That's how it was for us as well, some people hyphenated our names put just his last name, my maiden name. Our bank was pretty good with that. I guess when it comes to wedding deposits they must be used to mispellings.

maybe just mention the gift to a couple family members or friends, maybe someone knows who bought it.

i know in my family we always tell each other what we bought.

I don't think you should have a problem cashing the check with the name misspelling. I used to work at a bank, and we were always understanding of things like that.

The same thing happened for DH and I. We got a lovely gift in the mail, shipped straight from the company it was purchased from, and it didn't say who sent it. It wasn't off our registry either, and we asked our families to ask around to try to find out who it was from. Over a year later, we still have no idea. hopefully you will have better luck!

One of our wedding checks had DH's name wrong -- an older relative put his middle name rather than his first name (both start with the same letter).

I deposited it with a large number of checks, and they didnt really look carefully at any of them and let us deposit it. i was worried!
