This is an argument between FH and I.. For a few reasons..
but my question is for those getting married in church, are you having a full mass?

Re: Girl getting married in Church! POLL!
We are not for the following reasons:
- Half of my family is divorced and his family is Episcopal. Therefore, none of them can receive communion.
- If people want to go to mass, they can do so on their own. I'm not going to make people sit through a mass just because it's my wedding.

Re: Girl getting married in Church! POLL!
We are unsure at this point. Every single person I know that has gotten married at my church has had a full mass. Now I am not sure if that was because they wanted to full mass or because that's all my church will allow. I'm actually afraid to ask the priest LOL
FH and I would like to only do a ceremony. I know some of my family may cringe a lil if we didn't do the full mass, but we have until the end of the year to decide. We won't be meeting with the priest again until around Thanksgiving time.

Re: Girl getting married in Church! POLL!
We had a full mass for our wedding. It was something that I wanted and FH didn't mind doing versus having just a ceremony.
We are both Catholic so that wasn't an issue.
The time difference was maybe 10 minutes more than a ceremony.
We had a lot of guests that were Jewish, or did not practice religion, and they came.
What is his argument versus yours?

Re: Girl getting married in Church! POLL!
We did not have a full mass. The main reason .... we LOVED the deacon who performed our wedding ceremony and if we had a full mass we would have had to have had the priest do the wedding instead. It was very important to DH and I that our ceremony be officiated by our deacon.

Re: Girl getting married in Church! POLL!
We are both Catholic..
My argument is I have not been to church since I finished my confirmation, my parents are divorced, and I am not into the whole thing.
His argument is he has an old school italian family and they would take it as being disresectful for not having a full mass, even though the same goes for him that he hasnt been in church since his confirmation. lol
So I am torn, my parents say no, because they are divorced and they didnt have a full mass when they got married... and FH wants a full mass to please his parents, although he really doesnt want it either.
And not only that, but our wedding is a sunday in november, mass at 3.. its gunna be dark by the time we get out if it's a full mass and wont be able to take outdoor pictures!

I don't think it's such a big deal to have a mass vs. not having it. it really only adds about 15 minutes,

Re: Girl getting married in Church! POLL!
I am doing full mass. Only because I feel this is truly my wedding ceremony and I want it to last and be blessed. JMO. Just ask how long the ceremony is because I went to a friend's wedding ceremony and before we could blink it was over. In the end you have to decide what you and your FH wants. Everyone will have their opinions do what you feel is best for you and him. So if you only want a ceremony keep as that
