Girls getting married in a church

Is it typical to invite your priest/pastor out to a dinner with just you and FH before the wedding? I've heard of this before but wasn't sure if it was a definite....

I know that is a common tradition with a rabbi (my sister-in-law is jewish and they did that) but i never heard of it with a priest. our priest just wants to meet with us a few times to get to know us better so he can speak about us at the wedding.

i never heard of that! We arent doing it. We met with our priest a few weeks ago and he said we were all set and that hed see us at the wedding!

I have never heard of it...but I think its nice if you decide to do it but totally no pressure!!

The only reason we went to dinner with our priest beforehand was because FH already knew the priest. He use to teach FH in highschool. The dinner was a way for the priest to get to know a little about me beforehand and for FH and him to play catchup.

Our priest is a friend of the family, my parents actually took him out last week. I don't think you have to unless you really want to

I have never heard that before, but we are inviting our priest to the RD and the wedding. If he accepts the invitation, we plan to ask him to give a blessing before we eat at the RH.

I don't think it's expected. I know many girls who got married in Church and none have done this. If it's something you WANT to do, then by all means go for it!
