I dont want to give too much info right now, due to lurkers...
BUT please answer this question for me...
IF you were given a substantial amount of money and a substantial amount of free/discounted things...would you plan your wedding in 4 months??? FOUR MONTHS!
orrrr would you rather spend all the money yourself and do it traditionally over the course of a year/ year and a half??

4 months, hands down. I wish our engagement had been shorter (14 months). If you can take a long weekend, line up all your vendors and you'll be set. It's definitely doable.

im worried that because its such short notice, i may not get the photographer and/or RH I want
those are the only 2 things im worried about
flowers, dress, invites etc those are all standards and im not worried about missing the boat on those things
my main fear is the photo and video

Well, you may have to be flexible with some things, including the photography and RH, but honestly, if it was basically a free wedding, I'd do it. You'll find a photographer and hall you love, just have to keep an open mind and be creative.

4 months, no question, but that's just me. Whatever you stumbled upon, congrats! I'd get the wedding planned quickly, then start house hunting w/ all the money I saved! Lucky!

i would do it in 4 months no questions asked. but as someone said - you might have to compromise on some things. but if i coudl save that much $$ then I'd do it. The only reason we didn't do it in 6 months is $$ reasons

four months. I want be married already!! We are doing it in 8 months. I would have done it sooner, but my sister will be out of the country until June, and August 22 was the only night our hall had.

If it’s a substantial amount of money I say go for it – the stress would still be there regardless of the time frame but it would just be more focused/intensified and just think after four months you’ll be a stress free MRS relaxin on your honeymoon (if that helps) ! You may need to be flexible regarding choice of vendors or miscellaneous items but make sure you're still getting quality for your discounted vendors bc you’re still spending money regardless.

there are a few 'ifs' I'd have to ask before I decided if it was me personally going thru this...but here are my thoughts....
if you won't feel like you'll miss the year/year and a half of obsessing over every detail of your wedding
if the only reason why you were waiting the extra time was to save up some $$ to do it the way you wanted to do it (like for example, my FH is in school and I don't know if this would interfere with his schedule)
you won't have to compromise on what you want - like you won't have ppl telling you what you can and can't do (within reason)
you're ok with the season/date of the new wedding
if all of these things are ok with you n ur FH, 4months def!

I agree with the girls that it's not a black and white decision.
Is it a substantial amount of money to do it in four months and basically assume you will have to compromise on a lot of things. My other big question is it sounds like whoever is gifting you this money is putting a stipulation on it. Will they be controlling on other aspects of the wedding?
Or is it that you are getting a wedding at a venue because another bride backed out? If that's the case would they have stipulations that you might not agree to?
On the one hand it is great to save money. But on the other hand if the day becomes something totally unlike what you want because of saving some money and creating other timing complications. Then NOT worth it.
But. If it's saving you A LOT of money. Like half or more then yeah go for it! hehe.
Why don't you contact your photog ASAP and see if they can do your 4 month date?

I wish we had the money to plan our wedding in 4 months. FH & I could have did a 12 month and we could have gotten married this October, but I really wanted that extra 3 1/2 month buffer so thats why we are waiting until February.
There are plenty of vendors that would do a great job if you couldn't get the one that your heart was set on.
