Girls who are doing International Music

Original post by emomma17

We are playing some Greek songs for the wedding, but I don't want it to become an all Greek wedding so I asked for 2 sets of 2 songs (4) total with a possible 5th, anyone else doing sets of international songs? If so how many? I called my mother to let her know and what came out of her mouth stumped me....ONLY 4 SONGS? WHAT ARE ALL THE GREEK PEOPLE GOING TO DO???? AS IFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF that is my concern for MY wedding day? I told her I won't even entertain that question and let's move on..I could hear my father yelling at her in the background, she is out of her mind....

Well i have a huge issue b/c I am italian and FH is greek and we want both types of music played, plus of course english. We are leaving it up to the Bands (yes i said bandS) they will disscuss amongst themselves and work it out according to how many people are on the dance floor!

I think we did 2 or 3 Italian songs, both were dance versions and everyone was going crazy...jumping, singing and dancing, I would have to say one of the best memories in my head!

I will have about 1/3 latin music at my wedding. Both of our families are latin but most of our friends aren't, we mostly listen to english music but enjoy dancing to some latin music as well. it's tough to make everyone happy, i agree with letting the dj feel out the crowd.

We're both Italian and Jewish, so the tarantella and hava negilah (horah) are a given. I do like some Jewish music by Avraham Fried so I may pick a song or two by him, all in Hebrew, which of course I don't understand. And when it comes time to pick music, we may pick another Italian song or two to balance it out. But both FH and I are 80s fans, so our song list will be a mix of that too.

yes i did some romanian songs and some italian songs, i cant remember exactly how many of each. maybe 3-4 of each or a lil more but also spread it out and didnt do like 4 songs in a row ya know. We also played some spanish music

dont worry about playing greek music, the good thing is that even those who are not greek will get up and dance to...many of the greek dances you get a large number of participants and usually you get a big circle and most guests join in

Yeah I know most of my friends will love to get up and do the dances and are excited for it..I just also know that I don't want to over load it with just Greek music and not have the dance music that we Iove as well. My mother tends to get a little carried away and thinks that this is just a Greek wedding, we aren't playing any Irish or Italian music for FH's side, he doesn't care to and I know that 4 songs are a lot when you think about how many songs you have to play throughout the night and how long these songs actually go on for. At most I will do 5 but that is it.

5 of greek songs?
thats IT? lol Pooo Poooo lol

Yeah I know I am not a good Greek but I am really not a practicing one either, I am really doing it for my mother to be honest...I know that is horrible but everything she wants to do is Greek related and not once has she stopped to ask if we want it or what we even want for that matter...I just know at my sister's wedding the Greek music overpowered everything and she was so upset afterwards I refuse to have that happen . I know we will have a great time dancing to it too but i just don't want it to be the only focus of music either lol

honestly, this is why we got the DJ bc bands usually over power... i feel u and believe me FH and I are total party people and we just told the dj we r fun we like both it's in yoru hands lol

but for sure @ the end everyone will have a great time!

I think the bands usually over power because they see the $$$$$ flying. LOL

We are doing Greek wedding. Irish.american for me. We are splitting the music 50/50.

I plan on 50% Croatian, FH is not Croatian but he is so used to the culture and music that he seems to be ok with it!

its funny but so true, the dance floor got so packed during international songs, and not just at my wedding but i see this at most weddings.

I agree 100% which is why I think FH is happy with 50-50

I asked DJ, she said for 4 hour reception she usually plays 50 songs.

Keep that in mind when you are only choosing 4 songs.

i only did irish songs leading up to the ceremony and during the ceremony, then a few at the ch and then none at the reception outside of being announced. But in your case 4-5 is enough I wouldn't make it all about it otherwise you might as well make it a part of your theme.

80% of our guests are indian and 20% aren't, so most of our music will be indian.
