We are thinking of having a stolling violin for our CH. We've gotten prices from $175 to $300 for the hour for one violin. I haven't looked into a whole ensemble. I think most charge the prices above per person.

We are using Sterling Music Ensemble. They are charging me $200 per musician per hour. Seems to be the going rate, although you could probably do better. I would recommend them based on their CD, references, and thye've been great to work with so far.

We used the Island String Quartet (Ira Kocivar 631-689-9879). They did a fine job. Ira was very easy to work with. We wanted to have a hymn during the ceremony for people to sing to and they were able to learn the song at the last minute for us. Their fee was very reasonable (I think it was $480 for an one hour ceremony)- better than most.
