Most people just take the centerpieces as they leave. If you want to give them out somehow, I would have the dj actually annouce it or something.

Re: giving away centerpieces...
I've seen the napkin game played kinda like hot potato, everyone passes the napkin around the table, and when the music stops and you have the napkin, you win. Sometimes the dj will make the one holding the napkin get up and dance for the centerpiece or something, or sometimes, the dj will say, ok, the person to the right, or to the left of the person holding the napkin wins. I think I'll just let my guests fight it out. I don't really expect any disagreements, the last family wedding we went to had centerpieces remaining on the table when we were leaving. I guess it's not a big deal to some guests.

Re: giving away centerpieces...
My mom was a singer for weddings for years (most of my life) She often was able to take home a centerpeice that was left behind.. we had fresh flowers alot !! LOL.
My point... there is often a few left over at many weddings, and I wouldnt' worry about people fighting over em :-)

Re: giving away centerpieces...
I saw this once at a friend's wedding and we want to do it also. They put a chocolate coin under someone's plate and the the DJ announced that everybody should look under their plates and whoever has the coin takes the centerpiece home. I think it's a little cheezy but cute.

Re: giving away centerpieces...
We were planning on doing the same thing, putting something under someone's plate. That's about as far through as we've thought it, but I like the napkin idea too! I have to somehow fix it so FMIL gets one though. As for the the rest of the tables, it doesn't matter to me, but I know FMIL really wants it.

Re: giving away centerpieces...
My BFs wedding had a red carnation taped under one chair at each table & that person got the centerpiece.

Re: giving away centerpieces...
We had the band announce whoever's birthday was closest to the wedding day won the centerpiece.

we're donating them to either a nursing home that is in our town or our local hospital
