Marcella, how are you going to stop people from taking them?

well, to be honest, I think that just by looking at them, people won't dare to take them.. HOWEVER.. tara, will be there to prevent that from happening AND I have designated people to keep a look out.. I will also be having the band leader make a nice subtle announcement as well..

NYCMegan- doing the same thing... I'm going to donate mine to a local hospital or hospice in the area.

My DJ is going to do the $5 game. He'll ask one person from every table to take out $5 then they'll do the hot potato and when the music stops he asks the person holding the money to stand up. Then he tells them that he has good news and bad news. The bad news being that they didn't win the flowers and the good news being that they get to keep the 5 bucks. And then he'll ask whomever gave the 5 bucks to originally to stand and he tell those people that to thank them for their generosity the bride and groom would like them to have the centerpiece. As an added bonus I'm going to have the DJ give those who get the 5 bucks the table number frames because we bought special wedding themed ones and I'm going to put a pic of us behind the number.

Emma -- that's what we did! OMG everyone was laughing ... I thought it was a cute way to do it since everyone expects that the person who has the bill when the music stops is the one who wins the centerpiece! LOL

Re: giving away centerpieces...

I saw a cute game for bridal shower centerpieces. It was so funny...the bridal party went to each table and hummed a tune from a TV show the first person to guess the right answer at the table won the center piece. They did this during a low at the party and had the entire room hysterically laughing. It was so funny. I like the $5 game too. My Grandmother is a freak about the centerpiece. I am making sure that she gets one from the church to take home that way I don;t have to worry.

to be honest...I'm not a big fan of the getting up...stopping dancing and the party to give away the centerpiece...

I did have the dj announce whoever at the table's birthday was closest...they won the centerpiece...to honor my mom - her birthday was 9 days later...

it took a total of 20 secs...short and sweet
