Glen Island Review! WARNING: LONG
Ladies, the place is just gorgeous! The views of the water are quite amazing....
So first up, CH - It was held in the room upstaires where they have the ceremonies... There were about I'd say 8 different stations with an ice sculpture... Upon walking in, we realized that every single table and seat was taken up so we basically had to wait to eat which started to leave a bad taste in my mouth.... And they had plentyyyy of room in there to set up more tables. Anyone booked there, make sure everyone will have a seat... It wasnt fun standing around in uncomfy heels... Even though there were 8 stations, the food looked pretty scarce to me... What I did have was good though... Oh yes, and the service was a bit too good and TWICE I had something taken away from me when I wasnt even done with it yet.... So DO NOT leave yoiur food or drinks for 1 sec, or it will be gone in an instant LOL I thought ti was cool that you could go out on the balcony though and enjoy the views!
Onto the reception:
Flowers:Not sure who the CP's were done by, but they were tall and GORGEOUS! I have a pic, but its on a friends camera so I'll post it later....
Music: Their dj was Serg and they were OK if you are into the party-like type of MC with the props and all that... They had video screens that played the actual music videos of the songs so that was kinda cool... They also had a dinner singer who FH & I thought was a bit over the top... He sounded real weird when he hit those high notes and was a bit too loud... Overall, the dj kept the party atmosphere going, but it could also be that we werw a big group of drunken friends so it wasnt hard to do that LOL
Lighting: Not sure who the lighting was provided by but they had the room lit up and changed all different colors which was really freakin amazing.... I loved it... so if you are contemplating getting that, i'd def spring for it if you have some $$ to spare
Service: No complaints here. I think they did a very good job during the reception. Someone did come around and take drink orders which was great and the wine was refilled without being asked! Their was 1 bartender inside and 1 out in the hallway... I just asked FH and he said there was no line for the bars really, but he also said it depends on the crowd b/c only our table was really 'pounding hard' as he puts it LOL He also tipped em good off the bat so the bartender REALLY took care of us...
Cigar Roller: Provided by La Casa Grande on arthur ave : http://www.lcgcigars.com/live.htm - This was done at around the cake cutting and the bride had a little bit of a tiff about this and told him to stop rolling b/c there was no one inside the room... understandable... So he started up again during the vienesse hour... They were pre-rolled (all he did was put the leaf on it and slapped a label on em of the bride and grooms names and the date).... We took our cigars and went outside of the CH room and smoked em out on the balcony.... The groom missed the whole end of the reception b/c he was outside... Not sure if this ticked off the bride or not... She did have a 6 hr CH and reception so I dont think she minded too much... LOL But def a concern if any of you are getting one... I will be and I will also be outside puffin on my cigar with FH![]()
Anything I'm missing (I'm sure I am)? Any questions, just post em here or FM me
ETA: Damn this is long, but I didnt post about viennese:
It all looked delish, but ALOT wasnt eaten. I personally (along with the rest of my table) was too drunk to care and we stayed inside dancing the night away instead
FOOD: The entree I had was filet mignon which i asked med-rare and it actually came out that way... I was shocked! It was very tasty, but came with this potato kinda thing that I think was made with cornmeal and it was just really strange... I didnt hear any complaints about the food at my table so i'm guessin everything was okay! Penne ala vodka was simply amazing... prob one of the best i've ever had!
