How was your experience with the Radisson? I have guest staying there that weren't listed with my discount rate. I'm guessing they didn't mention our wedding code???

I had a really good experience with them. I'm sure if you ask to add your non-discounted guest to the block, they should be able to offer them the discount rate (as long as there are still rooms left in the block). I was only able to block 20 rooms though - they won't give you another 20 until the first 20 are filled. By the time my 20 were filled, they didn't have enough rooms to offer me for another block. That was the only semi-annoying thing

How far in advance did you block rooms?
My wedding isn't for another year.

I actually booked the rooms about a year in advance. My reasoning was that you have all of these reception halls in such a concentrated area (Glen Island, Fountainhead, VIP Country Club, Surf Club, Greentree, etc.) and the closest hotel is the Radisson and the second option people usually go with is the Marriott in White Plains. There's a good chance that another bride in the area is going to want to block rooms at the Radisson for the same night(s) I did. So, I figured the earlier the better
If you're going to stay at the hotel, you might want to ask for the 'honeymoon suite' to be included in your block. I did this and didn't officially reserve the room until 3 months ahead of time. None of your guests would book the honeymoon suite and this way, no other brides who get a block at the hotel will be able to book it.

Are you getting your cake from GI?
My cake wasn't included. Thinking back, I did no negotiating (aka haggling).
Did you 'haggle' anything?

Re: Glen Island Thread
OMG Glen island brides FINALLY have a thread!!!! I am soo excited!!!! I am a Glen Island bride too. We are getting married there July 7th, 2006!!! Only 70 more days!!! My BM is Rocco. He is sooo sweet!!!!! We are using Arcadia for flowers....Someone was asking about price per CP...let's just say they are pricey!!!!!!! We are paying a fortune for our flowers!!!! I am dealing with Chris there. He's very nice. The would not do a food tasting w/ us either. We have been to 2 weddings there so we weren't too worried. Any brdes that are getting married there soon...have you done your menu yet? What are their new choices???? I am so happy we now have a thread1!!!

Re: Glen Island Thread
Also...what 'extras' is Glen Island giving you....We have not gone yet to finalize the menu, but I was wondering if they throw in any 'surprises' at the end. Also....is everyone's cake included...mine is too. Lastly....has anyone noticed that the chairs they use for the sweetheart table are those regular chairs that they use for everyone else...I know this sounds dumb, but usually the bride and groom get 'nicer' ones. I mean I am used ot Russo's where the chairs look like Thrones...I was just wondering if anyone else thought of this yet?

Re: Glen Island Thread
What are you doing for your menu?
Cocktail Hour - Spanish Bistro, New Orleans Mardis Gras, Mediterranean Seafood, and haven't decided on the fourth yet.
Appetizer - Seafood Ravioli
Entree - Filet Mignon, Salmon, and trying to decide between the Tuscan and Sorretino for the Chicken
Dessert - Baked Frozen Cappuccino Crunch

I am not too familiar with New Rochelle either but EVERYTIME we go to Glen Island to do something we always wind up going our for lunch or dinner at Mamma Francescas. it is like 2 minutes up the road from Glen Island in a shopping center. it looks like a hole in the wall from the outside, but the food is amazing and they have a back room right on the water!!!! it is sooooo good and perfect i think for a RD!!!

Re: Glen Island Thread
I just wanted to tell you ladies I went to a wedding there over the weekend and it was beautiful. The food was great, the service was outstanding - always getting drinks - quick service and unobtrusive at the same time. The view is breathtaking for pictures.
Good Luck Ladies!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Glen Island Thread
Does anyone have a copy of the new menu??? (if there actually is one). I have the menu they gave us in the folder when we first booked but that was almost 2 years ago and they said they might have some different choices on there when it comes time for our wedding. I was wondering if anyone got a different menu than we did.

Re: Glen Island Thread
Hi Ladies,
Sorry I haven't been on for a few days, our wedding is Friday so we have been really hectic.
As far as the menu goes, I did not see the new copy, however, I did pick a chicken that Rocco suggested, can't even remember the name, to be honest with you.
Our cake is included, we are doing chocolate cake with bavarian cream and sliced bananas. On Jennie's suggestion, we did Cappuccino crunch for dessert.
I didn't haggle, I felt happy with the price, having been to many weddings there, I was confident.
We just finished paying Arcadia, definitely expensive, but hopefully worth it. I cried as I brought in the last payment- CASH ONLY! It hurt, let me tell you.
If you don't see me on, it's because I am running around like a damn lunatic. Can't wait to show you ladies the pictures!!!!!

Re: Glen Island Thread
Hi ladies,
I just randomly popped by and wanted to say congratulations! I got married at Glen Island and everything there was just wonderful. Of course, the downside is that whenever I go to a wedding now, I always compare and think to myself, 'this place isn't as nice as Glen Island.'
Cheers, Boram
