Re: Glenmar Studios, Roslyn

My girlfriend used them for her wedding back in Sept. The pictures came out nice, however, the photographer was the biggest ---hole ever! She even refers to him as the ---hole. In fact, when I asked her for the name of the photographer so I could warn people here, she said she can't even remember his name because they've just been referring to him as the jerk for so long. But the pics were good and her proofs came in lightning fast so it depends on what's important to you. I wouldn't want to work with someone like that on my wedding day no matter how good their work is, but that's JMO.

I am using them, my cousin used them and a another friend used them, even my BQ Manager's sister used them, I've heard nothing but good things.

With all my date changes and even adding video recently they have been very easy to deal with and call me back within 24 hours to respond to my questions or concerns.

So far I would recommend them

They finally got a website

Edited to fix website sorry!

I don't know anything about Glenmar, but I wantt o say that 'not taking any vertical pics' isn't really a valid complaint. Most photos are cropped when printed anyway anda horizonal picture cna easily be cropped to vertical. Sometimes it's better to take vertical shots and crop the certically because if you take the photo the vertical way, what do you get? headroom, sky, ceiling, ground, but if you take it the horizontal way, you get more scenery, etc so you can either keep it as a far away shot with the extra scenery OR crop it vertially to put it in a frame.

i used them in May, and when i think about them I get a little sick to my stomach. Barbara called me 3x in one day to have me book them and I gave in. I didn't listen to my gut instinct and booked them. The photographer missed so many shots that i specifically asked for. We only got about 300 proofs. Everytime I've called to ask about something they say they'll find out and call me back but they never do. Yesterday when I went to do my album, they changed prices on me. I don't hate many people but Barry and Barbara are pretty high up on my list.

Laura, if it helps.....we used them and I had some mixed feelings when I got my proofs, but in the end, I am very happy with the final product. We got about 300 proofs too, but they told us that ahead of time, so I wasn't really surprised.

For others, my photographer was extremely nice, and was a pleasure to deal with on the day of the wedding. My issues with Glenmar had nothing to do with his personality, he was a lovely person. We did not love Barbara either, but after the inital booking, we didn't deal with her at all, we met with someone else to do the album, I don't remember her name.

haha thanks

I'm pretty passionate about photography..but I got really discouraged by the photo department at my school. My soph year I went to try tog et signed into an intermediate course (so I wouldn't have to take basic photo) and the woman basically made me cry, so then i took basic, and when i got to her in intermediate, she saw my portfolio and said 'wow, that's really great' and was totally impressed and always used my work as an example... Then we had a roundtabel discussion with her towar the end of term where we could ask any questions, and everyone was asking how tog et work in a gllery, how t be rich and famous (most of these people were not any good at all..sorry t them) and she answered every dumb question. I told her sometimes I hit roadblocks when shooting. I just don't know what to shoot, I get bored, feel like its all been done (i LOVE to print, I could print all day, shooting is a chore for me, for most people it's te other way around), and instead of giving advice she said 'What's your major? Well maybe you should stick with that then'..meanwhile every time she saw my work, she praised it to high heaven....

Sorry to hijack..lol..you opened up my inner frustration.
