God Give My Sister Strength

God Give My Sister Strength

My parents and I just emitted my sister for sniffing heroin today. She's been doing it since September. I knew something was going on with her but its so hard for me to tell when I don't live at home anymore. I have been living with my FH for almost 3 years so I am not able to be there for her every waking minute. She is only 19 years old, she's a baby. This is such a hard time for her right now as she is in detox and I can't be there. The reason why I am sharing this all with you is because I need some advice on how to deal with this???? Has anyone been in a similiar situation? I am so mad, sad, scared, disappointed.... Also, if you know of anyone that is in trouble with any kind of drugs, tell their parents or loved ones!!!!!! Not one of my sisters friends came to me or my parents to tell her that she is in over her head and that if she doesn't get help she is going to die!! Of course these kids aren't her friends cause if they were they would of turned her in a long time ago. Drugs seem to be taking over so many young peoples lives... Please God, give my sister strength to pull through this

I've never been in this type of situation so I have no advice for you, but my thoughts are with you during this tough time. I'm sure there are support groups out there for family members of drug addicts.

I haven't gone through this type of situation but just try to stay strong for your family, especially your sister. It would probably help her to know that you care about her and will be there for her while she recovers.

Wow...so sorry for your sister and family.
My prayers are with them at this difficult time.

Drugs are such a sad thing. My BIL is a counselor for recovering drug addicts. It's so sad because so many of them are so young. It's really a sickness. I really hope her treatment helps and she sticks with it. I don't mean to give you any bad news but alot of people that do drugs go back.
I pray that your sister NEVER goes back again and stays strong.
It's good that you are getting your feelings out. Don't keep them in. We are all here to help and listen.

I don't have much to say other than that I'm praying for your sister and your family, and you made the right decision, definitely. One encouraging bit, my cousin was on cocaine for I think 7 years. he had a real drug problem, and finally he got out of it and now he has been completely clean for at least 10 years, he has a HUGE house on the north shore, and he drives a BMW, also he's very happy in a long term relationship. So even after that many yeatrs of drug addiction, he's so successful now and doing so well. you caught your sister early on and she's getting good care, so she'll definitely be able to turn this around and made a great life for herself

Oh sweetie. I am so sorry. My uncle is a 'recovered' heroin addict. Heroin is so destructive because the initial high it so intense and very addictive. It has caused my grandma and my dad nothing but grief. I am so happy your sister received help early on. My uncle has been in jail numerous times and has so many health problems now- if he ever does it again, it will surely kill him. My uncle actually once asked ME for money, supposedly to take the LIRR back home (he was living on the island) but I knew what it was for....it broke my heart.

The road ahead for your sister is going to be very difficult. and although you have so many feelings about it, please try to help and support her. It may be frustrating, especially if she ever (God forbid) relapses, but she needs you if she will kick the habit and live.

My prayers are with you and your family and especially your sister. Perhaps it would help you to deal with this is you did some research on famous heroin addicts (Rober Downey Jr., Steve Tyler, Scott Wylen, Dave Gahan) you may be able to get a handle on your sisters struggle by understanding theirs. Good Luck.

Re: God Give My Sister Strength

I have never personally gone through this but I wanted to offer you many hugs and let you know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. I have an ex whose sister was doing the same thing and a support group really is the best thing. She got very involved with the church and even went to live in a convent for some time. She turned to religion and seems to really have found God, she even sings Christian gospel music. I don't know if your sister would find comfort in that but some people really do. The only thing you can do for her right now is to support her and let her know how much you love her and that you're going to help her. Meanwhile you can always lean on us to help you out when you need some friends to talk to.

wow...I'am so sorry that you and your family have to go through this...I have never known anyone personally that had a problem with drugs...

I agree with you 100% when you say that drugs are taking over young kids lives...I hear so many story from my neighbors and their friends (who are also around your sisters age)...these kids don't care...they do whatever the one next to them is doing...they talk about wanting to be individuals with their lifestyles yet they all follow suit when it comes to messing with their lives...

I'm not that much older than your sister (27) but I feel like things have changed soo much in the last 7 years...that kids start experimenting with everything so damn young and they gey addicted soo fast...

I didn't mean to start rambling...it justs gets me mad and scared to want to have kids...because sometimes I feel no matter how good you are as a parent sometimes you can't prevent everything...
