Does anyone know when they are going to go around to greet their guests? Are you going to do it at cocktail hour or at the reception? I was planning on going around after they serve the first course but only to the tables of the older people that I know will not get up. Everyone else I figure can come see me on the dance floor!! Is that being rude? It's just that my girlfrend had told me she missed her whole wedding because she was busy greeting people...what do you think ladies?

Re: Going around to tables?
I really like KCDC's idea of having the band gather people around. I see everyone's point about having to go around from table to table, but that is what the cocktail hour is for, isn't it? I never really gave it some thought.. have other things to think about too.... Craziness. But thanks for all of the advice everyone!

Re: Going around to tables?
If we did not make the table rounds my family would have been insulted. DH's family would not have cared one way or the other. We made the rounds and were sure to pay extra attention to the older family members (the ones that would have been insulted) we were quicker with cousins, friends etc. It worked out fine and didnt take up too much time. Everyone was happy.

Re: Going around to tables?
Being we are getting married at the recpetion hall... I am hoping to do it while people are walking into the cocktail hour and kind of be like a receiving line. Hopefully, this will work out. The language barrier could be bad. Dale's family is from Canada and a lot only speak french. So at least it will be a quick bon jour.

FI and I were thinking of greeting guests as they arrive to reception or during cocktail hour. I don't want to feel obligated during the reception to say hello I want to get it all out of the way so we can enjoy ourselves and PARTY!!

I went around to everyone b/c I did not have a receiving line at the church. I think I did it when they were serving the first course.

I plan on having a receiving line at the church, as well as, going around at the reception. Probably will do this when orders are being taken. I think it is rude not to. I was just at a wedding where all they had was the mailbox to drop your envelope in, they didn't come around to say hi or thanks. Makes it seem impersonal to not say hello. FH and I will be spending cocktail hour in bridal suite with BP. Want to take that time to relax.

Re: Going around to tables?
I am planning on going to every table...and also take a table picture with everyone. I want to have a picture (with myself and FH in it) of everyone at the wedding. I saw this in my parents wedding album, and it's so nice to look back on when some of those family members are no longer here. The photographer said it might take me 45 min to an hour to do this...but, I feel that if people came so far and made an attempt to come to my wedding...the least I can do is give them a few minutes of my time. We are only having @100 people...so I think we should be able to accomplish this fairly quickly.
