Well I've finally decided to go to Hawaii for my honeymoon. We are going to go for about 13 nights. What islands should i go to? How long do i stay on each? And the big question...where do I stay? Any good travel agents that you could recommend me to would also be helpful. Thanks so much!! Danielle

Re: Going to Hawaii.....I have tons of questions
Danielle, First of all Congratulations!! Hawaii is awesome! As great as you think it's going to be, t's 10X better! We have been three times and can't wait to go again. Second, I never use a travel agent. I know some people think they are great, it just never works out for me. I find better prices on my own. Maybe because it's my money and I try harder to find the deals. I just find that any agent I've spoken to, only wants me to book the place that they are promoting. I have yet to find one that actually listens to what I want. (Don't beat me up girls, jmho) DH and I travel a lot, so I think I can be of some assistance! As for places to stay, that depends on your budget. If you forum mail me I'll give you some great suggestions. Let me know what type of placed you like also. Maui and Kauaii Have been fantastic. Can't help much on the other islands. Good Luck! Happy Planning! Deb

Re: Going to Hawaii.....I have tons of questions
There has been alot of conversation on Hawaii lately. I had posted my reviews. Here's some links. I used a travel agent in NYC. If you want the contact info, send me forum mail.
Have the most amazing Travel Agent who specializes in Luxury Hawaii Travel! .... HillandRon used her also and she gave me a terrific deal! Her name is Sue Levy and she works with Herricks Travel. FM me for her humber. Hope this helps....
I would recommend Maui or Kauai for a honeymoon...
oahu is really more for touristy and partying activities...and you can always take a day trip to Pearl Harbor
I usually don't use a travel agent...but for our honeymoon we did...we went to Spain and on one island we wanted to stay at the hotel DH's uncle helped to open as a translator...being summer and that we were american...they bumped us out (i guess spaniards get first pick??) Well the entire office of Liberty Travel was on the phone night and day looking for another hotel for us...We were already in Spain and they called us at our hotel telling us where to go...thepoor woman siad they were crying in the office...they were so happy they got us a room..
the bumping had nothing to do with the travel agent...but if I had booked on our own...I would have been freaking out that we had no where to stay...meanwhile when we were enjoying our trip...they did all the work...
they also took care of all the work to upgrade our tickets...
Liberty Travel doesn't add on a fee...but they get a commission from the hotel/airline that you use...

Re: Going to Hawaii.....I have tons of questions
OOOOhhhh, just reading through & very jealous! Just returned & DYING to back already!!
IMO ... Kauai is better than Mauii. Mauii is very comercial esp. if you stay @ Hyatt. Do your research sweetie ... ask lots of questions. I think we could have done better in Mauii.
Kauaii is unreal ... Hyatt is the way to go without a doubt. 7 days is perfect ... there's lots to do & you'll want to spend lots of time by the gorgeous pool or @ beautiful hideaway beaches. Helicopter, snorkel cruises, travel the coast .. do it all ... it's an amazing island.
Get the HAWAII FOR DUMMIES book. It's thorough & straightforward. We used it like a bible there & wished I had known about it b/f we went!
Good luck .. fm me for any other info!

I would do Kauai 6 and Maui 7.
Or 5 in Kauai and 6 in Maui and 2 in Oahu (if you want to do the Pearl Harbor thing).

Sue was beyond amazing!!!! I was really happy with her- The prices were great, she gave me a book on Hawaii, and is helpful in setting aside spa services, dining accomodations, and activites! She was totally full service and says things like you can't miss this or you have to do this! and really is doing the research for us to get the best deal!

Re: Going to Hawaii.....I have tons of questions
We stayed in Kuawi for 5 days at the Princeville Resort, then Maui for 5 days at the Kapalua Bay and then oahu for 2 days where we stayed at the Royal Hawaiian.
We had a wonderful time.

Check out fodors.com and frommers.com. Visit the message boards. You will get sooo much info on their from what is good for a hm, best places to eat, snorkel and a lot more. We have narrowed down three hotels in Honolulu we would like to stay at based on people's reviews on those sites. Good Luck.
