Going to try to grow orchids at home...

I spoke with this really nice lady, Elaine, who owns the invitation store where I'm buying my wedding invites...anyways, she has an aunt who is an interior designer, and she recommends orchids if you're looking to grow some live plants. Elaine says she's been doing it for years, and has a TON of them all over her home. I did some research, and am going to try it.

HEre's some pics of my new orchid babies!

This one is in our kitchen window, and it has the fragrance of a sweet chocolate!

Bedroom...I love this one, they are the same flowers that the Four Seasons in Maui put on our pillow every night.

Re: Going to try to grow orchids at home...

the purple one is dendrobium - I think you're confusing it with the hawaiian flower plumeria. They're very similiar. The last one is phalaenopsis. I don't know the other varieties.

Orchids are great - they bloom for a few months. Its getting them to bloom again after being dormant thats tricky.

Good luck and enjoy! They're beautiful.

I have the purple ones and the white one like the last picture shown above. I love orchids, they look really elegant in a room.

Re: Going to try to grow orchids at home...

They are beautiful!!

And seeing the photos of your home, they could not be more perfect decoration!

So jealous of beautiful windowsils - my sils are too narrow to put any plant on them!

Re: Going to try to grow orchids at home...

I agree with Lisa, after you lose their flowers they can be hard to grow again. The look so beautiful when they are in bloom though. Good Luck!
