Bayside and Forest Hills are beautiful areas in Queens. Both have areas that are close to either the Cross Island or GCP.

I grew up in Queens. Bayside, Whitestone, Kew Gardens, Forest Hills and Briarwood are good areas. Briarwood is right off the Grand Central Parkway.

Bayside is a great place to look. It's close to the cross island AND clearview which will take you to both the grand central AND LIE. There's also a lot of good food and shopping and the schools are good too.

Jamaica Estates, Hollis Hills, Fresh Meadows

In addition to the places listed, I would also add Douglaston, Whitestone and Middle Village. Astoria and Long Island City is good for nightlife and restaurants, also close to the city.

i grew up here and still live in Queens. Best areas imo are Bayside, Whitestone, Fresh Meadows, North Flushing, Glen Oaks, Little Neck, Douglaston, New Hyde Park (threes the Queens and Nassau side), Forest Hills is a big commuter area and very busy but a good area still.

I used to live in Fresh MEadows, then Whitestone and now Bayside. All are close to the LIE and cross island. Fresh MEadows and Bayside as well as some other areas I mentioned are closer to the Grand Central but none are too far, either way.

i live in Astoria too!

Astoria is a great commute to Manhattan. If you guys plan on having a car, then just know that parking is a pita. If you don't plan on having a car and work in Manhattan, definitely consider Astoria!
