GOOD BAGEL PLACE ? and I mean GOOD ??
I have yet to find a TRULY GOOD bagel place in my area
(hey i got 2 days till my due date, I can still B@#$ and MOAN about cravings !!
)If you've ever had a bagel at PICK-A-BAGEL in Manhattan, you know what I mean..
I mean that big, doughy, fluffy, hearty BAGEL !
I've tried quite a few in the Commack, Smithtown area, and none has quite impressed me !
My brother lives in Massapequa park and has gotten GREAT GREAT BAGELS (meet my standards!) in Merrick, but doesnt know the name, he's on assignment to get me the name, so I can see if its a chain and theres one near me...
The most pathetic are the supermarket bagels, as my brother calls them 'rolls with a hole in them'.
Dont these people know how seriously a New Yorker takes their bagels ???
HELP !! LONG ISLAND BAGEL IDOL SEARCH !

Re: GOOD BAGEL PLACE ? and I mean GOOD ??
Okay, these aren't exactly close to you, but I think the bagels are pretty good... the first (and my second favorite) is on Jericho tpke at the intersection of Jericho and 111. It's in a shopping center with Daffy's and I think a Walgreens and Starbuck's. It's called Smithtown Bagel. My #1 favorite is a little more of a ride, but it's open 24 hours, and the bagels are great! It's in a shopping center at the corner of rt 111 and rt. 347. I think that's considered Hauppauge. I can't remember the name of the shop, but the sign in the window says Hot Bagels. It may be the New York Bagel bakery, but I'm not sure. The bagels are DELICIOUS!!! Crusty on the outside and soft in the middle. YUM!

Re: GOOD BAGEL PLACE ? and I mean GOOD ??
Anna...I know what you mean because I can't find them in my area either (Centereach), I used to live in Commack and liked Bagel Boss in the Mayfair Shopping Center and the bagel place (can't remember the name) on Larkfield Road not too far from Home D. I work in Plainview and love the bagel place here, Town Bagel. I have to say I am not a doughy bagel kind of person, I like them big but crusty on the outside and not really fluffy, hope this helps!!Hey and good luck on your upcoming arrival!!

Re: GOOD BAGEL PLACE ? and I mean GOOD ??
Thanks for the bagel places to try !
Jenn, I went to Smithtown bagel last week, I have to say they are VERY GOOD (still not 'top dog' lol). and i was annoyed because it was 10 minutes after 11am and she wouldnt give me the breakfast special ! So that left me annoyed with them !
(But i would go back there, cause theyre one of the best so far !) A while back I also tried the one on the OPPOSITE side of Smithtown Bagel (close to Baja Grill, on that side street)and I laughed when she told me raisin bagels were 5cents extra ! (never heard that before !!!) But I had a $2.99 for a dozen coupon so I zipped my lip and paid the extra !
OK, so now i have to try the one on 111 and the one on Larkfield Road ! WOO HOO !
Just wanted to edit - I've tried the HOT BAGELS on 111 / 347, they are AWESOME ! I just remembered!
youre right, i think its just called HOT BAGELS.
Stace-thanks for the baby luck ! Thursdays my next and hopefully last appointment ! (wishful thinking...)

Re: GOOD BAGEL PLACE ? and I mean GOOD ??
Hey Jen, the bagel place on 111 and 347 is next door to my video guy and every time we had to go there, we stopped off at the bagel place!! They are very good!!Another good one is Strathmore Bagels, and I know they have several locations. I've been to the one in Stony Brook and E. Setauket (347 -- Waldbaum's, Outback, Fashion Bug shopping center). (Don't you love how the Queens chicks knows bagels out east -- LOL
)Suzanne, is that bagel place in Franklin Square on New Hyde Park Road in the King Kullen (or whatever supermarket) shopping center? If yes, then I've heard from 2 friends that they have AWESOME bagels!!
Geez, all this bagel talk is getting me in the mood for a sesame w/low-fat veggie spread!!!!! Yummy!
