Got all my responses with 3+ weeks to go but also got horrible news

Besides a few friend stragglers, we had two aunts and uncles who hadn't responded by the RSVP date. As of last night, we got all the responses and we have 76 adults (our min is 75!), 8 kids, and 4 vendors. A perfect situation, number wise, to be sure.

My mother has been checking in with my Aunt who was supposed to have her hip replaced two weeks before the wedding. She's a really sweet person and wanted to make it so she was waiting to hear from the doc.

But she had been having other medical issues and found out that she now needs a hysterectomy on June 1st! Since she is OOT too, there is no way that she can make it. To add to all this, there is an oncologist being consulted on her case which can only mean one thing.

Then Mom tells me that another Aunt is coming but just found out yesterday that she has lung cancer!

I hate it when happiness gets balanced out with sadness. My Aunt with lung cancer is only 2 years older than my Mom. I'm still so naive when it comes to my parent's health and can't fathom anything like this happening to them.

I shouldn't be dwelling about mortality and death at a time like this but it's so hard not to.

I'm not religous but ladies, please send hugs and thoughts out to my Aunts.

Thanks so much ladies. I think one of them will be at my bridal shower tomorrow, I don't think her illness is common knowledge so I can't really broach the subject yet. But I'll be sure to hug her tight and thank her for coming.

Ever since my FH's Grandmother died of cancer, I just have no hope. I know a woman at work who is a breast cancer survivor, and doing wonderful. But she's the only person I've ever known to beat it.
