I am doing the Black and White theme with accent of Raspberry and pinks. So I ordered a black dress with lace on the top and raspberry under the lace.
My mom's biggest concern is she thinks black dresses are bad luck...you know the old school in her is coming out. AND.....the black dresses won't look good in pictures on the beach :(
Does anyone have pictures from their black and white wedding with the accent of pink and/or pictures on the beach with black dresses??
Please make me more confident in my decision to choose black dresses!

black dresses will look wonderful! tell her both mine and Fh's mom are wearing black.... yes, you heard it... MOB and MOG and BOTH wearing black and i think its great that they are wearing what they feel most comfy in!

From what I can see in your avatar, your coloring would be stunning next to all that black and raspberry! I think it's a very sophisticated choice. Not everything has to pastel and bridey-have fun with it! Good luck!

I know...I have to do what I want because its my wedding...but I do value my parents opinions and if they are different than mine...I second guess myself :(

i love your color scheme, infact there is a name for it, its paris nights or something like that. Black is elegant and ive seen many bp's wearing black and looked great. Dont start doubting your color choices bc of a superstition. Remember that your mothers reasons for not doing black has to do with an old superstition not that its not a good color to use. Unless you believe in that then i wouldn't even worry.

I know how parents can be.. They always want to be traditional but try to compromise..

Old school is tough - my Mom is 70! And when I took her to look at my final 5 choices of dresses (all of which were strapless) - she was appalled I'd actually show my shoulders in church
Bottom line is go with your gut and what you love...and then try to not be argumentative but rather 'this is what I would like for my day' and usually it will work out.
I think your colors sound beautiful.

I do have to agree with your mom on this one. If it wasn't on the beach, I would say...black is very elegant and classy for a wedding. But...a beach wedding should be bright and cheery. Most brides use tropical colors. However, you are the bride. Would you consider switching the colors? Pink dress with black accents? That might be a compromise. Here's a picture of a black and white bridal party.
for my brothers wedding we wore black and champagn dresses with pink flowers. it looked amazing!!! we also took pics on the beach.

Check out all of my albums...my entire gigantic bridal party wore black and white, both moms wore black (and they are old school Italian) and everyone raved about the color scheme. I love the way it looks together!

i think the black will contrast nicely with the sand...how many pics do you see with guys in black tuxes on the beach...i think it'll look fine...good luck! (some random pics i found thru Google)
