Got my Pocket Fold Invitations and of course there is a problem!

I ordered my invites from a lady I booked at a wedding expo...well needless to say they were $$$$$$ and while they are gorgeous here is the mistake:

The RSVP card says:

The favor of your reply is requested by August 1

M____________________________

accepts with pleasure____
number of guests_____

decline with regret____

***Well shouldnt it say:

DECLINES with regret??

should accepts/declines be consistent??

or just have accept/decline

or

accept(s)/decline(s)

Please help...I am so annoyed :(

I would appreciate your input...have you ladies seen them this way or is it a mistake by the invitation lady??

To be honest, I didn't even notice the difference until you pointed it out.

Like the saying goes 'don't sweat the small stuff'.

yes, that's a mistake.

once filled in, it would say 'Mr. John Doe decline with regret' which is grammatically incorrect.

did you get a proof first?

Yes, but for the amount we paid I expect them to be perfect!!

we didnt get a proof for that part...it just said the favor of your reply and the date we wanted...

i would call the woman.... you said that you spent a lot of money, there's no reason the invites shouldn't be perfect!

It does look like there is an error and for the amount of money you paid there should be no errors and you should be 100% happy. Why don't you call her and tell her the issue and see what she suggests should be done about it. She might offer to print out new ones. It's much easier than if the actual invitation had a mistake.

well than, if you feel they're not perfect and not what you paid for, than call her and get it straightened out.

I completely agree.

I am surprised that you only saw a partial proof of the RSVP card .... was that something you added on after you saw the initial proof? If it was, and it was something you emailed her, she may claim that she only printed it how you asked her to print it ... BUT if that's the case, she should have corrected it before printing.

I agree, that it is an error. It should be *consistent*. You can go either way, accept/decline OR accepts/declines.

I personally don't think that the 's' should be there .... most of the people invited to a wedding are couples. So a filled out card would read like this:

Mr. and Mrs. John Smith
accept with pleasure / decline with regret

If it was a single person invited, than having the 's' would be correct:

Mr. John Smith
accepts with pleasure / declines with regret

Also, if you are going to have the cards re-printed, you might want to have 'favor' changed to 'favour' (the proper way for it to be spelled on a response card).

Hope that helps ....

Yes, that looks like a mistake. Either both should be plural or singular or be:

accept(s)
decline(s)

I agree with the earlier posters - call the woman who did the invites and tell her you're unhappy. Reprinting something like the response card really shouldn't cost her all that much and she should be willing to take a loss (or, really, earn slightly less on the job than originally planned) than to leave you unhappy and therefore unwilling to promote her here or elsewhere or, worse for her, to provide negative publicity about her.

Everyone makes mistakes. If you read a proof and it was correct on the proof and/or you saw a partial proof that the incorrect part was not printed on they will be happy to reprint it for you OR give you a heavy discount to make you happy.

I work for a print shop and this happens a lot. What does get me is if people sign with out reading their proofs. I have to go take my finger show them a big red stamp i put on the proof and says once signed we are not responsible. YET if something is wrong and after they have signed it they play dumb. I am not saying you are in this category but nothing angers me more then getting yelled at by a customer over a error after they sign off.

Always double check proofs, have another person check the proof not you or your fh because you typically are not reading it by letter more or less reading it by what you think it should say.

Ill be honest, I didnt notice the mistake-I would have never known that was wrong.
BUT it is. I would call and see what they will do for you, especially since you paid a hefty price!

Good Luck I hope the issue gets fixed

Definetly let them know of the mistake. We have had little mistakes with my engagement announcement and with our save the date. We let the people/company know and they took care of it at no extra cost. I hope that I helped you out.

I would definitely be annoyed...I definitely think u should call the women and ask her why she did it this way or if it was a typo. Also, was it on ur invitation proof?
It should definitely stay consistent....Mine was

_____ 'I do'
_____ Regrets

# ____ attending

something like that..i dont remember....................
