Gourmet cupcakes rather than cake

Anyone thought of doing gourmet cupcake bar? I think it'd be a great idea right now.. but I wonder if I'd be regretting it on the wedding day!

i love cupcakes (who doesn't!?) ... i wanted a cupcake-cake but the cake was included with the RH and i didn't want to add money for it.

yup. Perhaps you can get a credit to the bakery the wedding cake comes from.

I've thought about it - but the cake is also included as part of our package and we dont want to fork over any more $.

Cupcakes are included in our VH but I dont know what kind of cupcakes. My RH is trying to customize the cupcakes to match my colors - hopefully they can do it!

yup. Perhaps you can get a credit to the bakery the wedding cake comes from.

Since the RH gives a fairly 'generic' cake, the credit they'd give is not very much ... the bakery said if i want a custom cake, i'd probably need to add around $500 to the tab which is waaaay too much for cake, IMO.

so generic cake it is

I'm almost annoyed that some places force you to have their own cake. With all the cake shows on television- you'd think the venues would encourage you to do it up the way you want.. or at least have relationships with bakeries of all different kinds so they can still make their $$$.

You can sometimes negotiate this out of the contract. My Coordinator negotiated this out for us.

I just posted on another thread that we are doing cupcakes, etc for our guests. We are getting a small cake top for just the 2 of us.
