ETA: If you don't mind sharing, how much did you all spend on your gowns? If you haven't gotten one yet, what is your price range? Thanks!
Can anybody give me any idea of what kind of price range Priscilla of Boston or Melissa Sweet gowns might be?
I wish they'd at least give ranges on their websites... it makes it so damn difficult. They're in the same shop as Watters gowns, which are reasonable, so I'm hoping they're in the same price range.
Thanks!

Re: gown pricing?
Priscilla of Boston gowns are about $2000 and up. I found that most of the ones I tried on were in the $3000-$4000 range...

oh, ouch, so they're a bit more. I was hoping to keep it under $2000.
I got that number from the one store I went to that had mostly gowns in that pricerange, but it was a much lower-level store, so maybe I was under the wrong impression?

Re: gown pricing?
The Melissa Sweet dress my friend wanted was over $5000! That was this season though, maybe last seasons are cheaper?

Re: gown pricing?
especially if it is a dress from last year's collection you may be able to get it for under $1000.
Of course there is David's Bridal which has similar dresses to a lot of the major designers fo much less.
Or if you have your heart set on Priscilla or Melissa Sweet you can try sample sales where you usually get 10-30% off a dress or you could try a place like the Bridal Garden that sells samples or preworn designer gowns.

Re: gown pricing?
I spent 3000 and it includes alterations. The same dress at another place was 4200 so I saved some money shopping around. I fell in love with the first dress I tried on and that was it. My sister bought a beautiful dress for under 1000- James Clifford and it is gorgeous- He is a pretty new designer on his own so his prices are good - he used to be with Priscilla of Boston

Re: gown pricing?
private label by g for $725....burton's bridals beats any price without even bargaining. i also tried on a demetrios at macys for 1500 but burtons would've given it to me for 1150. also, i've been told that jasmine (i think) are decent priced dresses. there's a price range for everyone and they're all beautiful dresses.

Re: gown pricing?
my dress retailed for just over 2000 after tax and i got it for 950 after tax (before alterations) but there shouldn't be too many alterations (i'm pretty much a true size 8 and that's what the dress is). i was so lucky to find a great place where i could get the same dress much cheaper. my dress is by james clifford

Re: gown pricing?
Mine was about $1700. I went in with a definitive price range and they didn't show me anything that would cost over $2K. And yes, there are amazing dresses out there that don't cost a fortune.
