gownfind --- important

gownfind --- important

I ordered my gown from Phyllis after the rave reviews that everyone gave her on here..I brought one of my BMs to her house to be measured a few weeks ago and it was a rainy cold day - we rang the side bell at our appt. time and no one answered. I wnet around the front and her husband answered and told us to go around the side. No one came to the side for 10 more minutes, despite ringing the bell and it being pouring rain outside. She let us in and didn't apoologize or think it was odd or anything.... Today my other BMs went on their own to get measured because I'm out of town, and I just get a phone call saying
'Hi, we're 15 min early for the appt. and we rang the side bell and no one answered, so we went around the front and and a man answered and said to go back around the side. So we figrued he was coming to open up, but no, we're still ringing the bell and waiting....'

Is it just me, or is that wrong? Everyone raves about her, but this sort of makes me worried. Should I not order the girls' dresses from her? Or is it just me being overly worried???

wow, that does sound rude to me especially due to the incliment weather. I don't know if rudeness will translate into the dresses not being what you want though. If I were you, I guess I'd wait and give her a 3rd chance and if you have the same experience or are still worried about her dependability then, at that point, find someone else.

Being that all of you had appts and she still makes you wait, (outside no less) is quite unprofessional, and extremely rude. I know she's providing a service for you, but usually professinals conduct themselves as a business person should. Thats with kindness, and promptness AND apologies when necessary, and in this case it was. I'm sure if you were late she would have indeed answered the door and given you an attitude or made a sly comment. Rethink whom you choose, regardless of reviews. I have a feeling, in this case reviews may mean nothing with the way you have been treated so far. JMO. Good Luck to you!!

Oh my god that happened to us today....I did the same thing and i was banging on the door and ringing the bell. She was nice when we went inside. She has a ton of brides who come see to her. I am definetly(?) having her do my bustle.
The door thing did not bother, but I also was not standing outside in the rain.

My best friend was set to bring us here for our dresses! I will pass this info onto her. Doesn't sound like great business practice to me!

She did say that she will be relocating her store to a different location instead of it being in her home.

Yeah, I thought it was that she was in a different part of the house and didn't hear the bell, which is totally acceptable. But as soon as the husband knew we were there (both times) and told us to go back around the side, my asumption would be that he wouold have yelled to her that she had customers and to go answer the door... I dunno

My girls said she was nice and they got measured and all.... I mean, it makes me leery about it, but she did have the best prices and everyone on LIW LOVES her, so I feel like I trust your past experiences and will go on faith with this.....

That's the kind of thing that kept happening to me with her. She also cancelled appointments at the last minute when alterations were not done. It was a pain for my BMs who arranged babysitters. I had one that BM who had to cancel on her once and I know she wasn't happy about it, but but she cancelled many other appts. There were so many little things, and a few major things that happened. I gave her a C to C+ in my review and I wasn't even able to list all of the reasons for that grade. I had 6 BMs getting dresses and shawls from her, plus a dress that I bought from her for a different wedding. One of my BMs ended up with the wrong top. It looked good on her but it was not what she ordered.

We're using her too, and she's been awesome. Maybe with her moving ( I didn't hear that, but if she is), things are a little hectic. But you should do what you feel best with!

I used her and never had any problems like that. We were late often because of traffic and she never complained. I had nothing but a positive experience with her.

Re: gownfind --- important

I was nervous reading this post last week and now two of my bridesmaids just called me to say they had an appt at 4:30 and didn't get an answer at either door even though they tried repeatedly. They even called information for the the number but just wound up getting an answering machine. This doesn't inspire much confidence so now I am wondering if I should still go through with my order. Help!

Has somebody called her and told her about this? Ladies, if you are unhappy with the service-say something!
