I think 3.0 and higher is very good. Although my job required a 3.5. I think it depends on what the job you're applying for wants.

I think it depends on the school you attended and the GPA required to make the Dean's List. I'd say if someone achieved honors, then their GPA was good

I don't think in my case that the Dean's list matters. It's more about the actual GPA. The school is well know in my field so I am not worried about it's reputation.

hmm.... I don't think that an A+ is a 4.3 at most schools. I'm in grad school for speech pathology, and both A and A+ are 4.0

Also agreed. Most schools do NOT weight an A+

Re: GPA average question
I'd say anything over a 3.0 is good. The higher the better when a job/career actually factors that in to the hiring equation. I know that my BIL had like a 3.2 or something and was just barely making the interview min. for an accountant [in BIG NYC firms]. He was kicking himself for not focusing more.

Re: GPA average question
Yea 4.0 is the highest for most programs. I found online though there are places with a 4.3 just didn't know where exactly. Put it up anyway... i had a 3.8 in college for many years till this semester guarante its going to drop.. DROP after these finals.

Re: GPA average question
My sister went to Cornell, and A+ was 4.3 there.
I go to Queens College and an A+ for me was only 4.0. I guess you have to pay the big bucks to get a 4.3!

Re: GPA average question
Schools that give A+ grades will generally have GPAs up to 4.3
In my opinion a good GPA is 3.5 or better, but it really depends on a lot of things, including the school and the coursework. It's a lot easier to get an A in some classes than in others. In the end, grades don't matter much unless you plan on trying to get into a post-graduate program. Most jobs aren't too concerned with GPAs - although maybe first jobs are as they have very little on which to judge candidates.

Re: GPA average question
I think a 3.0 is good and a 3.5 is Great.... Most colleges will give you academic scholarships in this range...I would always stay above a 3.0 Obviously the higher the better, especially if you rely on scholarships, grants and work to pay for your education or if you at least want them to!
