Just curious--- I saw the commercial (AGAIN) and I never hear anyone say they are getting married there. Is anybody? Did anybody? Or did anyone go to see it? Just wondering what the experience was like?

I went to a prom there (years ago) and someone I know recently went to an affair there. It's a crap hole!!! Gaudy, old decor, bad food, even worse area. bad, bad, bad!! I do not recommend

Re: Grand Prospect Hall?
We went there when we were checking out places for our wedding, and didn't really like it. It reminds me more of a theatre then a wedding hall. And + I was there for a law school prom, and I just had bad memories of the food and stuff... so it was a def no for me.

Re: Grand Prospect Hall?
My cousin's wedding was there a few years ago. The Grand Ballroom is really nice, but we were in a smaller room that was actually pretty plain.
And we got to ride in the oldest working elevator in NY!

Re: Grand Prospect Hall?
one of my best friends had her wedding there and actually paid around what everyone else is paying like 100 pp. She had it in the smaller room. it was ok, It wasn't the worst wedding i have ever been too wasn't the best. The food was decent.
The service was retarted
i ask the waitress what kinda chicken it was and she didnt know, she went into the kitchen to ask 5 mins later she come back and was like chicken in a sauce. and i was like what kinda sauce, she goes back in to the kitchen for another 5 mins and finaly comes out and says the sauce is brown.
I was like is this is this girl for real , am i being punked or something. So i have to say probably the worst service i have ever had.
also my friend is Trinidadian and she said there would be no Indian food at the wedding. So i thought i was safe ... i tasted something that i thought was apricot chicken and i ejected it from my mouth ... i couldn't even chew or swallow! it was like curry chicken

Now now, if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.
Manners. Some people don't have any.
Girls on this board are getting married there, don't you think they'd be offended by what you said?
When you get an RH, maybe it'll be a craphole to someone else
Welcome!

Re: Grand Prospect Hall?
one of fh's gm's got married there last year... and we (fh and i ) were part of the bp
we had the entire place to ourselves.... there were abt 300 guests and the place still seemed HUGE!!! At the time, i had no idea there was a smaller room?
it has a glamorous antique theatre feel...i enjoyed the food and service, we got real cool pics there bc of the structure.

Re: Grand Prospect Hall?
the original poster asked for an opinion and I gave her one. Not everyone needs to agree and have the same opinion. I apologize if it was harsh but it's my opinion and I'm entitled to it. I prefer to be honest than to say nothing when asked for advice. Some people may love it, and that's fine. I personally don't. I think it's more helpful to the original poster to be honest.

Nobody snapped at you, don't take it personally. Everyone has different tastes. You could have just said it was not your style and you didn't enjoy the food.

I am so offended by what you are saying. It’s your opinion that the place is a 'crap hole, gaudy, old, serves bad food & is located in a bad area.) No place in your post do you say that you are giving your opinion, you are being down right insulting. I can guarantee that whatever you paid for prom is nothing compared to how much a wedding at Grand Prospect Hall costs. The hall is timeless & beautiful.

I am getting married there next weekend & so is another 2010 bride. The place is absolutely beautiful. The decor is timeless. The food is amazing. The staff is wonderful to work with & very accommodating. It is on the expensive side, up near $120 per person, but completely worth every penny.
