Gratuity Question Kinda long

Gratuity Question Kinda long

Ok - so i reserved a shuttle for my hotel guests. When they quoted me on the phone they gave the price as $XYZ plus gratuity

I went down yesterday to give the deposit check - they dont do formal contracts - but they gave me a printed out reservation with all the details - including my deposit. It only lists the price we were quoted - not any gratuity.

So is the gratuity they quoted me something extra that i give - not something added on (like most limos quote)

Of course i could ask - but i guess im thinking maybe they dont realize Not that im trying to cheat out money - but considering what im paying for a 10-minute shuttle ride - cant the tip just be something extra for the driver - not a full 20%

Opinions please

As our limo company explained to us, by law they aren't allowed to include gratuity. You are able to tip the driver whatever you want.

Thanks i didnt know that - its funny how they automatically put it in sometimes

Not that i dont think drivers deserve to be tipped - but it should be more of a set dollar amount -- not a percentage.

There is also no tax on this either. So if you ever have someone from one of these companies tell you 'If you pay cash, I'll knock off tax' they are full of it and it's a shady operation!

For our SHUTTLE (not our limos / different company) gratuity is NOT included in the quote. We tip the driver night of (and as long as all goes smoothly we would tip appropriately (20% average)... For our LIMOS, gratuity is included...

We are using a different company for our shuttles also. Maybe im being cheap - but i feel like tipping a driver over $100 for 2 trips that are 13 minutes long seems like alot.
