$650k in that area seems a little steep...unless its got a bigggg piece of property or water front/water view?

We found this house in Smothtown but there is a bid in on it already (we are toying around with the idea of selling our home and moveing a little further east...) I love this house, its so cute, too bad they've accepted an offer already.

$465,000 and almost 1/2 acre

If it was waterfront, add 1 million to the existing asking price.

Unless its a puddle.

I meant more of, across the street from water. But Greenlawn/Harborfields doesnt have much waterfront property.

It's true - the further east you go the more you get for your $. but in my case, the longer my commute to work!

You are so right...it's scary what some realtors call waterfront....when DH and I were looking for a home, some realtors were claiming waterfront, and it was more like sewer front, or maybe you can see the LI sound if you look through your neighbor's window.

Doesn't Huntington have Huntington Harbor?

But I don't know if that's still Harborfields?

Exactly. That is what we talked about before deciding where we wanted to live. We looked at houses in suffolk and loved what we could have gotten for our money. But he spends over 3.5+ hrs on the LIRR now. It stinks.

The only waterfront area (as far as I know) in Harborfields SD is in Centerport.

Huntington Harbor isnt Harborfields SD...I think Centerport is the only waterfront area in Harborfields district.

OMG Where do you guys live now that he spends that much time on the LIRR? We live in Northport (north shore/western Suffolk) and I'm only on the LIRR 1 hr each way - I take an express train from Northport to NYC.

We were looking at houses considered waterfront and it was like...yeah, OK so I can kinda make out a little bit of water if I stand on the roof of the house and only in the winter because in the summer the leaves on the trees block the view. it's craziness!!

The small backyard of this house (most of the '1/2 acre' is side yard) backs up to 347. They are definitely asking too much for this house - IMO - after having seen it.

Housing prices have gotten REDICULOUS. I wish buyers wouldn't give so much power to the seller who thinks they can ask HALF A MILLION DOLLARS for a 60+ y/o house that has never been updated!

I live in Middle Island (Exit 66) and I take the Ronkonkoma line everyday back and forth and it takes me 2 hrs each way....

Are you saying 3.5+ total per day? that would make sense!!

good to know. Glad we didnt look at it. It is reallllly cute though! But $465 is a lot to live on Rt. 347

Houses are just so expensive. DH and I bought our house before the prices went way up. We were lucky. But we still have tenants to help cover the mortgage. We are looking to possibly sell our house and buy another house a little more east on LI.

I told him we should just move out of state!

I was wondering about that!!
I have 1 hr. each way on the LIRR and about 20 mins each way on the subway. But at least on the LIRR I get to read or sleep.

I'm lucky I can et an express train from Northport, it saves me about 45 minutes each way!!

Its on a 1/2 of a acre in a good area. I don't know the story, all I know is that I heard it was a great house that would go fast.
