Maybe you should jump over the border a little and look in Suffolk? Western Suffolk at least?

Oh, I see. Are you working with a realtor? It might help to work with one since they get all the MLS listings way before they are online. You could get a jump on things that way.

Not on the South shore but we're working with my friend's Dad from Coach in Northport and he is so NON pushy/annoying. What we did was we told him what areas we wanted and how much we wanted to spend. Every day or 2 he has his computer set up to email us listings in those areas. Sometimes we see the same house a few times, but we get emails all the time with new homes on the market too. He told us if we see one we like let him know and he will ask about it. He doesnt bug us at all.
He has access to all the MLS homes plus the Coach exclusives so we get to see lots of homes.

$650k in that area seems a little steep...unless its got a bigggg piece of property or water front/water view?
We found this house in Smothtown but there is a bid in on it already (we are toying around with the idea of selling our home and moveing a little further east...) I love this house, its so cute, too bad they've accepted an offer already.
$465,000 and almost 1/2 acre
Wow 650 for that??
I would definently choose this Smithtown house over that one, plus Smithtown is a better SD

I don't know where the house is located exactly, but Huntington in the Harborfields SD is a VERY nice area. Many of the homes here are listed over $1mill dollars.
Harborfields is one of the Island's top SD.
Don't forget, the house posted is located close to the village and a short distance to the train station. Smithtown doesn't have a walkable 'downtown' like Huntington Village. And we're very close to the water!

IMO it is still too much money for a home which, from the outside at least, looks like it has not been updated in many years.
In addtion to the fact that many people on this board are looking for starter homes (if you can even find one of those on Long Island anymore), and $650k is a lot of money to most people I know and talk to on LIW.
Like I said, just my opinion.

I'd rather go to Coram and buy a house three times the size of that for half the money.

I agree. I think it was just a discussion about different areas and different opinions.

Re: Great House for sale in huntington
I agree though that just from the picture the house looks very old and not in very good shape. I cant imagine paying $650K for that no matter where it was. Theres a ton of houses on LI in similair 'good'areas that would be much larger and have more space. Just My opinion.
