Greece-Santorini, Crete

How's the nightlife? I love going out dancing, but am worried that they only play greek music that I don't understand..any experiences with this?

Also, what day activities did you do besides lay on the beach alll day :)

Re: Greece-Santorini, Crete

I'm def going to bump this post because I was wondering what there is to do in Santorini!

Going to Athens/Santorini was my original honeymoon idea, however it is expensive to go the time of year I am getting married. It's like 5,000 for the air and 10 days at a hotel. I would be fine with that amount if it included food and sightseeing, but we could easily drop another couple of grand before the vacation is over.

Re: Greece-Santorini, Crete

5K isn't too bad when you compare it to other places like hawaii or tahiti, etc. but you're right..it can get very costly when all is said and done. what hotels are you looking into? I lovee the ones with the infinity pools overlooking the ocean

Re: Greece-Santorini, Crete

Hi,

I went to Santorini and Crete for my honeymoon... however, I'm afraid I can't help you with the dance scene. We're not big clubbers. We did find great night life though in both places, but cannot attest to the dance club scene and the type of music played. If it helps, the bars generally played american music in the background, especially in Santorini.

As for other activities ... we're also not huge beach people. We spent the day on the beach one day in Crete. We went to Elofonisi (at the southwest tip of crete). It is amazing - crystal clear water and little beach coves. Really recommend it if you stay on the western side of Crete.

In crete, we did other activities like hiking (hiked the samaria gorge) and then just generally driving around the island and seeing different sites. In Santorini, we went on a boat cruise that stopped at the volcano island and then took a dip in hot springs. We also drove around the island, went to some wineries and just saw different parts of the island.

Hope that helps.

Re: Greece-Santorini, Crete

If you are looking for a great nightlife, I would head to Mykonos -- they have amazing open air clubs on the beach with parties until dawn!

Don't worry about the music, it's all in English (although some of it is British or Australian so you may not have heard it before but it is still really good). Most people on the islands are tourists so they really cater to that.

Santorini is more toned down with it's parties but you can definitely find them in the main town (can't remember what it's called but it's in the center of the island on the west side). Just don't stay on any of the north or south resorts bc they are much quieter.

Santorini has really unique beaches (red and black sand) so that's kind of what you do there, there really isn't much else. Even the main town is small and there is not much to do there.

Never been to Crete so can't help you there. Good luck! FM me with any other questions.
