Greeting Guests...Table side or Cocktail hr?

Greeting Guests...Table side or Cocktail hr?

After going to my friends wedding and watching her chat with tables and not enjoy her party or get to eat or anything.. my FH and I decided we would greet all our guests a a receiving line at the CH... (as we're doing pics before the ceremony so that we can enjoy the rest of the day...)

And OHHH how people who ask us about that have an opinion!! Some think doing it at the CH is ok.. but mostly I get how 'rude' they think it is not to go table to table....

So.... What did you do (or are you doing)??

We want to do the ch, but I think we might try to do tables if we can.

I voted for the CH b/c this is what we are going to do. But we are also planning on briefly passing by the tables as well. we are also having a small wedding so it makes that task a little less daunting. I think overall as long as you greet your guest and make them feel welcome and appreciated, no matter when/where you do it, it will be fine.

We are going to try to get through it all at the cocktail hour.

We spoke to 75% of the guests at CH. We attempted to visit tables at the reception but I we were really hungry so we wanted to make sure we got to eat and then when we did get up to go we were pulled in every direction!

Cocktail hour.. We want to enjoy our reception and not have to go from table to table talking to everyone. My friends missed almost their whole reception for talking to their guests!

I wanted to set up a receiving line at the CH, but I was told it would prevent people from entering the CH, cause a back up and thereby shorten the time the guests are actually in the CH. So I think we will get a few moments alone, then come to the CH, put ourselves in one spot and let them come to us! With only 100 ppl it shouldn't be too bad!

Our plan is to greet the majority (if not all) of our guests at the CH. We will hopefully have all the pictures out of the way before the CH starts so hopefully it will leave us enough time to walk around to everyone. If not then we will walk around to everyone we missed during the apps/salad courses.

We are taking pics before the ceremony so that we can attend out CH and try to greet everyone there. We are only having about 100 people so we are confident we will be able to talk to everyone. I want to eat and enjoy my reception.

we did a majority of the greeting during cocktail hour and there were only a few people that we didnt get to during our reception cause we were out dancing the whole time! i did feel guilty that we didnt say hi to everyone, but what can you do.

There is no way that we are going table to table. We're going to go the Bridal Suite for a couple of minutes after the reception, and then come down. Our CH is almost all passed items, and they come around literally every minute with something new. Therefore, I think we will get to eat and talk.

Plus since we're having a mini-destination wedding, we're going to be seeing a lot of people the night before and the day of at the hotel.

I didn't vote because DH and I did both. We tried to get around during the CH (which we did....although not really together), then, we got to as many tables as we could during the dinner - we had a formal sit down dinner w/ no dj/band as teh dancing and fun stuff went on later in the night (but only tried to spend 5 min at each table). Unfortunately we only made it to about half of the tables....but honestly - your guests will realize that the bride and groom will be busy and will not hold it against you that you couldn't make it to their table. If they would like to speak with you - they will find you. Trust me.

Im going to try and do it at the cocktail hour. I don't want to spend my entire reception going to tables I want everyone up and dancing having a great time.
