Grooms Cake

How many of you plan on doing a Grooms cake? If you are, are you going to present it at the rehearsal dinner or the wedding?

I want to do one for my FH but don't know if I should do it for RD or Wedding.. hmm.

Grooms Cake

I think we may have one next to our cake at the wedding. At first we weren't going to have one, but we came up with a few ideas that he likes for the cake. We honestly never thought of having it at the RD!

Grooms Cake

I'm definitely doing one for him. Probably for the rehearsal dinner. Probably a TARDIS (Dr. Who), the Reddit Alien... or a superhero cake. I'm not sure.

Wait, is the groom's cake supposed to be a surprise? Lol it's something we talk about all the time and I thought it was something he was supposed to know about.

Grooms Cake

FH has been on me trying to convince me to have a fudgie the whale tiered cake for our actual wedding, so I thought it would be funny/cute to figure out how to do that for him as a grooms cake for the RD. It would never hold up during a wedding, since it's an ice cream cake, so I figured wherever we have the RD, we can ask them to freeze it til we're ready for dessert and then present him with it.

My opinion about grooms cakes: Our FHs are being so supportive and wonderful while we're planning (hopefully!), and possibly even helping plan whether they enjoy it or not. The cake doesn't need to be expensive or elaborate, but doing something for them that they don't necessarily know about until you present it to them is just our way of saying 'Thanks for putting up with the crazy girl I turned into for a year and a half!'

I'm obsessed with this idea, haha. My family gets me fudgie every year for my birthday.

If I figure out a way to tier it, I'll FM you instructions

I've even considering writing a letter to Carvel pleading for them to make me one LOL

Grooms Cake

I think at the Rehearsal Dinner is a nice idea plus it provides dessert for everyone. I want to get FH a Star Destroyer cake from Star Wars. I am going to have to call around and see how much but I think it would totally be worth it!

Grooms Cake

I am doing it. I'm using the woman that did our engagement cake. I will be using it at our rehearsal dinner. I figure he can enjoy it more that day and it doesn't have to be a large since the rehearsal dinner will have much less people then the wedding. I'm thinking something Yankees related.

Grooms Cake

Well be having ours at the RD. I plan on getting a cake that looks exactly like traditional tiered wedding cake, but zombies will be climbing up it. I think I saw it on Pinterest. FH is a huge horror fan and I know he's going to die when he sees it.

Grooms Cake

I want to get a NY Rangers one also, I was thinking of something either shaped like a helmet or a jersey of his favorite player but I don't want to spend too much money. If our venue is providing the wedding cake do you think I have to go through them for a grooms cake also?

Grooms Cake

I haven't decided yet, I have to see if it's in the budget, but if I do decide to do one it's going to be at the rehearsal dinner.

Grooms Cake

I am definitely doing one, and my goal is to make it myself! I have already found a recipe for chocolate guinness cake with peanut butter frosting that he would DIE for. I plan to decorate it as a batman theme. I am no baker, but I will do my research first!

i want to do this, since we have such a small bridal party i would have it at the wedding.

Think he would get a kick out of it as well as all of his male friends seeing it.

Grooms Cake

I'm doing one, but not sure if I want to do it at the rehearsal dinner or the wedding. FH had wanted to put live fish in our centerpieces and wasn't happy when I said no, so I want to get him a cake shaped like the kind of fish he wanted in the centerpieces. Kind of cheesy, but he would love it. Because of the reasoning I think I'm leaning more towards doing it at the wedding!
