So I got myself into quite a little dilemma.... my flowergirl is my MOH's daughter. She was a flowergirl in another wedding a few weeks ago, and my MOH asked if she could use the same dress for my wedding. I agreed (without having seen the dress) because I know she doesn't have much money, and how bad could a flower girl dress possibly be?? Well, did I stick my foot in it! I absolutely hate it, but how do I tell my MOH (and oldest friend) that I don't want her little girl wearing that dress-since I already agreed-and being that my MOH was the one that picked it out, I don't want to hurt her feelings! It's just a little......much...for my taste!
Honestly, I'd tell her you were imaginingg something else, and offer to buy a new dress that's to your liking.

I would tell her that you were looking for something a little different....if you can.....tell her that you want to pay for it.
Just an idea

Oh boy, this is a hard one. I guess if you're going to say something then offer to pay for a new dress since she's short on cash. How you're going to tell her is a whole other situation. Could you go with that it doesn't really go with your dress style or something?

Re: GROSS flower girl dress!!!!
I agree with the above... but if you can't pay for a new one, isn't there some way you could take some of the ruffles and stuff off? Especially up around the top?
It wouldn't be so bad with a little editing.

Re: GROSS flower girl dress!!!!
I would DEFINITELY pay for it, because she's already paying for her own dress, I'm just nervous about how to go about telling her without hurting her feelings because she was so excited about the dress when she first told me about it.....i'm not wrong,am i? the dress is awful, right?

I agree I think you should say you were envisioning something different and just buy her a dress you like. XOXOXOXO Kitty

I agree 100% with the other girls here. If you would like her to be in something different at this point it would probably go better if you offered to cover it. Or you could offer to have the dress altered instead. Either way it will be a hard conversation, I can understand that - sorry for you.

Re: GROSS flower girl dress!!!!
It might be able to be altered, to take off some of the trim.
Or else, I'd offer to pay fora new dress.

I agree here, the dress is also alittle to much.

Re: GROSS flower girl dress!!!!
Id either buy her one as a surprise, then she could have 2 for dress up afterwards. Or just let her use it and modify it.
I dont think its that bad.

tell her that you decided to get one that had some accents in it that would match the bridesmaids...

Re: GROSS flower girl dress!!!!
weren't you already worried about the ivory/pure white dress color difference? Go with that reasoning... say that you really think it will look odd to have the two different whites. And you can, if you want, offer to buy the flower girl dress you like.

I think the dress is cute I would tell her you would like to buy a new dress for her.

Re: GROSS flower girl dress!!!!
If you honestly don't like it, then there is a way to say thank you, thank you, but we envisioned something else or already looked at dresses, etc etc.
I know family/friends means well and they try to be generous... but sometimes they don't realize that we want to make some choices for ourselves....

Re: GROSS flower girl dress!!!!
What is that anyway a veil? Is there any way it canbe altered to not look so foo foo? If not maybe you should tell her it just isn't your taste and offer to buy a new one for her. I am sure your friend wasn't the one to pick it out. Or was she?
