Youre not the only one, My husband feels the same way. Many people were never recovered. It should be a peaceful place to sit and reflect. If I was a family member I would be pissed that a big concrete building would be built on my babys grave.

It was a horrible thing that happened and I think the site should be turned into something beautiful!

I think that you can honor and still revitalize. I don't know, I can only refer to my own experiences with grief. When my older brother died my parents kept his room as a shrine to him. In the exact same condition as it was the day he died. It bothered me. It in no way helped keep his memory alive. I have that in my heart and in my head. I would rather remember him that way then walk into a sterile room that lacks exactly the same thing he now does... LIFE.

It is a tricky situation because as much as I understand how private grief is, this was a public tragedy. The nation still mourns. New Yorkers still mourn. We need a place to go where we can each do that in our own way. With no unreasonable restrictions (such as having a big brother type drawing centre). As far, a rebuilding. It is going to happen. Our government has built over gravesites before and will again. In all honesty I don't know if this nation could ever overcome 9/11 without rebuilding. It is a sign of defiance and rebirth IMO.

I hope that this made some sort of sense. It is just hard because I have so many conflicting thoughts on the matter.

I dont think it should be a drawing center at all. I would love to see a small park or water fountain and something with all the names of the people lost. A place to sit and reflect. There are ashes of people who were never found there. I think it should be a peaceful place. But I know this will never happen.

I agree...I think of all the people who were never recovered including my cousin and many other people I knew of
