I have received a few requests from brides that would like to attend the GTG but have not participated on our boards (they only read them). So, this is your decision. Do we allow non participants to come or is this an exclusive GTG?

Re: GTG Question
Huh? Why would someone who doesnt contribute want to come to the GTG? I mean, why would they want to come if they dont even want to post on occasion? (I guess this directed at the girls themselves. Maybe a good time to come out of lurking status)
That being said - doesnt bother me if they come. The more the merrier I suppose.

Re: GTG Question
IMO, I think that it should be an exclusive GTG. We are all getting together so that we can meet each since we 'talk' to each other everyday. But whatever the other girls want to do is fine with me.

Re: GTG Question
Hmmm I dont know. I have mixed feelings. I feel from reading everyone's posts that I know everyone. At the last GTG in dec I felt like I was with a bunch of old friends. We knew each other by our alias or our posts.
These brides that just read we dont know.
I feel we are a tight group and that we know more stuff abour each others weddings then probably our own FI's do.
Then on the flip side, they are brides and this is a gtg for brides and for us to have a good time so the more the merrier.
I am really mixed on it.
I say let Jennbaby and Shamma have a call on it

Re: GTG Question
LOL! Chippa, I was going to respond with the same thing about Jennbaby and Shamma!
But my opinion, either way is no big deal to me!

Re: GTG Question
This is MY opinion.
I really think this GTG is an opportunity for all of us that post here on a regular basis offer advice and are there for each other on a consistent basis to meet.
I am not being mean, I think it should be for us.

Re: GTG Question
I kinda agree with nrvbrd. If they don't post, I'm not sure why they would want to come. I see the GTG as an opportunity to put names with faces.
That's just my opinion - whatever is decided is fine with me.

Re: GTG Question
Who am I to say that someone cannot attend just because they don't post? I think some people get very nervous about posting personal info on the Web but if they are really brides and want to come I say why not?

Re: GTG Question
I feel a little weird about it, especially if there were 0 posts, not a single one? I would be worried as to who those people are and whether or not they are some kind of weird stalkers.
But on the flipside, I also lurked for a little while prior to making my first post.
Personally, I feel that the GTG list is a bit out of control as to the # of people attending (or at least listed), but then I prefer somewhat smaller parties in general.

Re: GTG Question
I'm gonna sound really harsh and selfish here but here goes.
I think the should definitely be able to attend for the same reasons michele31 posted. Maybe this will give them the opprtunity to get to know us and want to start posting. I understand their hesitance now. The internet is a scary thing....BUT....... I don't think they should be included in the prizes. We participate on a daily basis and should have first dibs
Edited to say: Even if I don't win anything (which I probably won't) I would prefer my 'posting-friends' to win over a non-poster

Curly, I think that is a good idea about the prizes.

Re: GTG Question
Curly - that is a good idea. I could be wrong but it seems that people who dont ever post dont really want to get to know us, so they may only be interested in the prizes in the first place. That rule would easily make sure thats not why they are joining.

Re: GTG Question
I think Alina makes a good point. My only concern with someone who hasn't posted - how do we know they're not a vendor or something??
If a new person wanted to go and saw this thread - couldn't they just respond to some general thread and start posting. so we would all feel more comfortable??
Again, whatever the majority decides is fine. There will be plenty of us there if a weird stalker shows - we can take them on

Re: GTG Question
Why would anyone want to interact with someone that they don't 'KNOW' persay?
Werid ..
If they can't post. I wouldn't want to know them!

Re: GTG Question
Curly's idea is a good compromise, however I want to comment about being scared of the internet.
I am the most paranoid person on the planet, and I am very private. I feel there is a way to post on here without being extremely personal. You do not have to post pictures of yourself, include your real name, and people will never know who you are.
I still think the GTG should be for those who take time out of their schedules to be here for one another.

Re: GTG Question
I just want to play Devil's advocate... all of you ladies are a great help, but it is a little intimidating because you ladies all know eachother and post a lot. Some of use aren't able to post so often .. For example, a friend of mine is on this, and I post way more than she does.. but that doesn't mean she isn't interested.
