Re: GTG Question
Robey: Even though we may seem like we know each other, we really dont. Some of us have been on here for a while so we know a lot of details about wedding stuff and a few other topics..but there are many new brides on this board that I dont know anything about right now but hope to come away from the GTG with a few more 'friends'.

Re: GTG Question
Same here Chipp! I agree with what everyone is saying! Even though I am in infrequent poster I know all the names on the board and try to chime in when I can. I'm attending the get together to meet some new people who are going through the same things as me right now. I'm looking forward to meeting all of you

Re: GTG Question
I vote for NO-sorry ladies who don't post but I think this is a GET TOGETHER for us to MEET one another from the boards. Those of us who talk, laugh, help each other & share ideas.

Re: GTG Question
Here's my couple of centsAre these people who want to attend registered with you? they should at least be getting all the email and regular mail I get from registering.
I am of the general opinion that the GTG will allow me to meet up with people I've 'talking' to for a while, and in some cases, met before, as opposed meeting a bunch of strangers who just read my opinions
If these girls want to join, fine but I think it would be weird
To be honest - would these people be interested if there weren' ant prizes? Did they contact you after the prizes were described?

Re: GTG Question
It doesn't matter, this is for those of us who post & 'talk' to meet one another. Isn't that a point of a GTG? This is getting out of hand IMO

Re: GTG Question
I think Curly's idea is great and will weed out anyone interested in the prizes only

Re: GTG Question
I'm sorry I thought I was playing nice & I thought I was entitled to MO like everyone else.
My opinion is it should just be us, the ones who post.

Re: GTG Question
Maybe its selfish but I would like to meet the posters because they have helped me along the course of my wedding planning/marriage. Maybe this GTG will encourage the non posters to start posting so they can join the next one.

Re: GTG Question
Infrequent posters YESNON posters - NO
IMO the point of a GTG is to meet those who we've formed some kind of relationship with whether through asking 2 questions or 20.
I think the GTG is a great time for our 'newbies' to meet and greet and become more familiar with us who've been around longer.
But for those who don't take an interest to EVER post? What would be the interest in the GTG?
So, I must say I wouldn't want to share ideas and thoughts with someone I never even knew existed before the GTG day. They would say 'Hi, I'm June, my screen name is JoeJune', and I'd be thinking, 'Oh, yeah, when did you pop up' and be suspicious. What would be my interest in having any bit of a conversation with her?
Whereas someone who's come on even if just a couple of times, at least I'll know her screen name and be more welcoming towards her. This is MHO.
And yes, I agree with the others, if they are allowed to come 'NO Prizes, Arbor Mist or Donuts' Ha ha
Edited to add: If anyone's name is June or FH/DH is Joe, I don't mean you, I just made those names up

No, FH is not coming === it will probably too girly for him...
But he was planning to come to the holiday GTG that never happened, b/c other guys would be there.

Re: GTG Question
I find it amusing too... But since his lurking found us a photographer on here, I am not against it. He'll also read my wedding mags on the subway sometimes, making hillarious comments. For example, when seeing a crincked on purpose wedding dress, 'I guess whoever buys this dress won't have to worry about ironing'.
I should be writing them down
