Ladies, How do we come to a medium? FH want a guestlist of 80people but I have a bigg family. Realistically we will met 125-150 people.... which will mostly be my family... FH would rather elope if this is the case

I would make two list. The A list and then the B list. The A list are those that you MUST invite (Parents, Family, etc) The B list is for those you don't HAVE to invite. (Co-workers). I would explain to all those not invited that you and FH decided to have a small intimate party with just family and close friends. Good Luck!!

I have one rule regarding the guest list...
If I have not seen/talked/made any kind of contact outside of the occasional FB comment in over a year... you are not invited to the wedding. FH and I want people at our wedding who know us and who are there for us.

I feel ya!!! We are at 240 and this is literally with bare minimum! And this is with FH having 40 of his family. I just have a huge CLOSE family. Decide what you guys want. If 80 is your budge then see who the 80 would be like cutting out second cousins or what not

try making it an 'adult only' reception and ask your guest who have children to find a babysitter. Might help cut costs, and let your guest enjoy the evening without having to run after their children the whole night. I'm only inviting my immediate cousins over the age of 15.

i am trying to cut down by going through my friends , if i know they dont have a sigificant other i am not inviting them with dates. they are all i a big group of friends and can have fun all together. I am not doing this with friends that may not know any one else at the wedding though just my main Friends. Also no teenage cusins with guests.

So do I! I am having a big wedding and we are having a hard time cutting down our list. we are over our guarantee by a lot and we still have a HUGE group that we haven't added yet. I am finding it really hard to do this!
My friend told me this little advice... make your guestlist... put it down and dont look at it for 6 months. pick it up and go through it again and see who you are still close with etc. this goes for friends obviously, not family. it is hard though to cut people.
