I really started working on the guest list last night and while originally I was going to invite all the single people with a guest, I've changed my mind. For some people, I am inviting a guest because it's their significant other who we are also friends with but doesn't necessarily warrant a separate invite.
I also changed my mind on inviting my co-workers (9 people all together) but if I include their spouses, then it's really too much!
I know while it's polite to invite singles with a guest, it's also costly. What are you ladies doing with your guest lists in terms of single people/co workers with spouses/etc?

Re: Guest list question
Most of my friends and FH friends are married or in serious relationships. There are a few here and there who are ssingle so i'll invite them with guest (only 4). I am inviting my co-workers with guest. But I'm not inviting my family with guest unless they are married and/or in a serious relationship.

Re: Guest list question
I would love everyone to bring a guest but I can't afford it so the only people that are invited with guest are couples and or people who do not know anyone else at the wedding besides me and Fh. The only co-workers that are invited are the ones that I am friends with outside of work.

That's been my original plan, but I am starting to feel really close to my coworkers and feel like by the time the wedding invites are going to go out, I'll want them to be there. I may do the A list/B list thing. Who knows how many people my mom wants to add! I might have to rein her in. :)

I have a B list as well, you can put them on the B list and if you still feel the same way about them by the time you are ready to send out your invites then invite them.

Re: Guest list question
most of my co-workers are married. Only one isn't and he will be invited with a guest. Single friends and cousins of mine will not be invited with a guest. If a cousin of mine has been in a long term relationship and knows the family they will be invited. I am sorta doing it on a case-by-case basis

Re: Guest list question
I am only inviting with guest if they are in a long term relationship and my co-workers are on the B list. I am sending my first wave of invites out 3 months before the big day and as we get no's in I am going to send out to co-workers. If people call and ask me if they can bring a guest I am going to explain that the wedding is expensive and we could only invite a certain amount of people.

So are you putting in the names on the invite to avoid confusion on their end?

Re: Guest list question
I too am only inviting people with a guest if they have a serious significant other. But - what is 'serious?' 6 months? 1 year? We are worried that someone will start dating and will have a serious significant other by the time the wedding rolls around!
And neither of us are inviting any co-workers, it's way easier that way. It helps that I don't work on LI. I guess if people ask you can just say 'We're having a very small wedding' even if that's not the truth!

Re: Guest list question
I can't invite all my co-workers - we have 110 in this office and 90 in the other one but I am inviting my management team (about 10 ppl with their spouses/guest).
I am inviting all single ppl with guests even though I'm sure some of them will still come alone. I personally feel bad inviting single ppl without guests.

Re: Guest list question
i am not inviting my co-workers.
as for people with a 'guest' i am only inviting people who are actually dating someone. as for FHs friends who are not dating/seeing anyone they are not getting invited with a guest.

Re: Guest list question
A have two friends that have been dating someone for a long time, so those people are invited with guests. Most of my other friends are single and will not be invited with a guest, I just can't afford to keep putting people on the list.
As for co-workers, I am inviting the ones I am close with and thats it.

that's what i'm doing also...it would be way too much to invite all the singles with a guest

Re: Guest list question
We are inviting anyone single with a guest. As far as co-workers, I am only inviting my principal, 2 very close people I work with, and 3 very good friends I used to work with all with guest. Not too sound conceited, but I get along with everyone I work with real well and felt funny picking and choosing between all of them so I am only inviting the 2 that I am the closest to.
