I've gotten back most of my rsvps and it seems a few people have included an extra guest on their invite. At first, I wasn't going to say anything, but it really is an inconvenience for me and my fiancee. We are paying for the RH by ourselves with no help from anyone. Our guarantee was 200 and we've already gone over it although not by much... I just hate telling people that they can't bring someone but really shouldn't they have asked first before sending in their rsvp? I just don't understand it. There should be a book on rsvp etiquette.

Re: Guests adding guests on their RSVPS
I can't stand the fact that people take it upon them sleves to add more guests on to the list, with out even asking... You HAVE to say something... I know it may be hard because you dont want to hurt anyones feelings, but this is not right... Give them a call and just explain to them that you wish you could accomadate more guests but you have a set budget that you must stick to... If they cannot accept that then they really need to re-think who's day it is and who's party they will be attending.. Im sure they wouldn't want to be in your position.
If all else fails - tell them your RH dosent hold more than 200 people and you RH will not allow any other guests... put the blame all on them!
But Honestly - dont let them get away with this and dont feel badly about it either!

Re: Guests adding guests on their RSVPS
That's a toughy. What happens to all the guest that didn't add guests that may have wanted to. They may think you invited all these extra people and why didn't their kids for example weren't invited.
I never even thought of that one. I hope that doesn't happen to us.
Good Luck!

It happens all the time. The only reasonable response is to call and say you're sorry, but the place just isn't big enough to add to the list.

Re: Guests adding guests on their RSVPS
This is the story of my life. I numbered my invites telling them who they could bring and guess what they still changed it. Just a few people. Anyway. I just told them politely they had to stick with who I invited.

Re: Guests adding guests on their RSVPS
I would call and apologize but say due to numbers it cant happen. Period. We actually had people RSVP with a guest and talk to us about it like it was no big deal In the end it didnt matter but still

Re: Guests adding guests on their RSVPS
ugh...well...atleast they RSVP'd lol...my FMIL already warned me that FFIL's family doesn't RSVP to anything!!! Like with my e-party!! It was awful bc at least if it were my family i wouldn't care about calling them..but it wasn't. The other day i passed around a piece of paper at work for ppl to jot down their significant others for invites and a few actually put their kids names down too...hello!?!??! you're just a coworker!! PPL can be soooooooooo tacky!!! i say just call them and explain that unfortunately you can not accomodate guests.

Re: Guests adding guests on their RSVPS
People have added their friends (who we of course do NOT know) and their kids. I already said I didn't want kids attending. Why would I change my mind?
Well, I ended up telling one family member know.. let's see how the rest go. Wish me luck!

I totally agree with you - it sux that you've got this extra stress now Good luck!
For those of you who have experienced this, out of curiosity, who did you find people were adding the most? Was it their kids, random friends and/or dates or people that they had been seeing for a while, but whom hadn't been invited (due to $ or room size restrictions) ? I've always assumed that it was kids, but I'm starting to wonder if that's the case...?

Re: Guests adding guests on their RSVPS
I don't understand people. If I wasn't invited to a wedding, I'd be damned if I'd go. I wouldn't want to go were I'm not wanted. I would feel like an interloper all night long. People are so crazy. Those are the people who look at it like 'hey, it's a free meal'. Ugh. Sorry. Good luck correcting the situation.

Re: Guests adding guests on their RSVPS
is your mom involved? traditionally it's her job to call guests who add guests to their rsvp's.
if not, you HAVE to call - that is a HUGE added expense! just say, sorry, we only reserved X # of seats for you, and that's it. there is no more room.

Re: Guests adding guests on their RSVPS
That is truly unreal. Think of it this way, if they had the GALL to add people to the rsvp's, then you should certainly have the GALL to tell them no!

Re: Guests adding guests on their RSVPS
wow. that's so rude of a person. it's supposed to be if someone is engaged, or living together to be able to bring a date. not bring their friends, or some girl they met last week or whatever lol. unless of course it's a no budget wedding! if every single one of my friends decided to bring people we'd have like 500 people coming.
I hope my friends don't do any of this, though i'm sure they will. shouldn't it be obivous if it just says their name? no guest? sad thing is I bet some people know not to do this but do it anyway.
