Had my annual exam today... (TMI)

This was my first annual since my 6 week postpartum exam. I thought all I had to be worried about was the PAP results, but now I have more to worry about. While my doctor was doing the breast exam, she noticed that my breasts still leak milk. Only when you squeeze them. But she said that it shouldn't happen this far after I stopped breastfeeding? I stopped in January. Along with all this, I had told her that since the birth of my son I haven't lost 1 lb that I gained from the pregnancy either even with working out 4 days a week for 6 months. I also told her that I've been charting my cycles and that every other month my cycles have been shorter and I've had PMS cramping way before I should in my cycle. So now they took all this blood for all these tests. They're testing my thyroids, prolactin levels, Diabetes, cholesterol, etc. And to top off everything I have to go for a mammogram tomorrow. She didn't feel anything during the exam, but just as a precaution, she wants me to get it done. I can't believe all this. I am so upset and scared now. From what I'm reading, if my prolactin levels are high, then that can be caused by a tumor in the pituitary gland in the brain, which is also part of the thyroid issue I might have, and who knows what she's looking for in the mammogram? If she didn't feel anything in the exam, then why do I have to get that done? What would that show besides tumors? I am just so scared! I wanted to go to the doctor to make sure everything was ok with me so just in case we can, we can start TTC #2 this summer... I never expected any of this! Now I can't help but think that I have tumors, and cancer, etc. I am so depressed! I also have to wait until the 12th to discuss the results with my doctor! I think I'm going to make an appointment for next week to discuss the blood work and then the following week to discuss the mammogram. I can't take the stress! Thanks for letting me vent!

Melissa I have a thyroid condition, it is not a major issue and out of all of the things you listed, don't let it stress you. But your thryoid controls most everything in your body. When it's off it throws EVERYTHING off: ferlility, emotions, weight, stamina, sex drive, you name it. It is VERY easily treatable.

As for the mammogram maybe she is checking for cysts to make sure they are not obstructing your glands.

Try not to stress too much until you hear why.

Do yourself a favor, don't read ANYTHING, espeically off of the internet. We are not docs and some of the diagnosis' don't aplly, but you'll read in to them as if they do. If I had every diagnosis that I looked up ailments for I'd have brain tumors, cervical cancer, mets to the bone, etc, I'd be dead.
It could be a simple answer and a mammo will also show if there are any infoections, blocked ducts, etc, they don't just do mammos to look for a cancer mass. to you, let us know what happens.

Melissa...she is just being careful. Of course you are nervous but that doesn't mean that you are sick or having something horrible. I bet this is all nothing. If you need to discuss results sooner, then call the office crying. They will somehow fit you in

So you decided to TTC #2 this summer? Wow. That is big news. I didn't think you were going to do that because of the daycare expense etc.... I am sure the OB will give you a totally clean bill of health soon.

Well, TTC#2 hasn't been decided if we can yet. We have been working on it. We both want another baby, but don't want to bring another baby into the world under our current financial status. We are hoping to be able to TTC#2 this summer, but it's not definite of course. It might be a little while longer. I'm hoping it's not, but in reality, it might be! We'll see... I'll keep everyone updated! Thank you girls!

I think it's great that you are planning on TTC'ing this summer. Caiden will make a great big brother and you are such a wonderful Mommy. I wish you lived closer, I would love to get the kids together for a playdate!
