[Yes they are. I hate this time of year. We can no longer take walks in the backyard. And if we do we have to wear bright orange so we do not get shot!
You've got to be kidding? That is not a way to live! I would be scared of the flying bullets. Can you call the Parks Commission and discuss this w/ them?
Been there done that. They put up a new sign! Notice new sign as in singular and not plural! Thanks parks dept!

And this past year we found two bucks with their heads removed. Never even used them for food. Just wanted the racks!

Re: Had to Vent!
There has to be some sort of answer for this! People cannot just come onto your land and hunt! What have you tried so far? Police, park commission? I'd say next time you see ANYTHING happen, call the police and claim that you are fearing for your life because there is an armed gunman in your backyard.
This makes me so ANGRY!!! I'm sorry for your family to have to witness this.

Re: Had to Vent!
We saw a guy hunting on the side of Wading River Road on Monday and Jimmy wanted to hit him with the truck, but I told him how can explain to the police he did not see him (with the bright orange vest) but the snow plows did get him with a ton of snow he could not even get out of the pile and me and Jimmy just pulled over and laughed at him and watched him struggle trying to get out. Literaly he was 2 feet away from our car shooting at something. It is so dangerous, to be that close to a main road, what happens with a stray bullet.

Landmines with paint balls instead of actual TNT, unfortunately it will spook the deer but at least it will put the fear of G-d into those looser hunters.

I don't blame the both of you for being upset. First of all, its dangerous! Secondly, you have children and it would not be good for them to see that. Thirdly, I know that deer are shot but who wants that to happen so close to their home! The police won't do anything to crack down on this or they dont' care?

I thought about going hunting myself! For two legged animals!
Police and parks dept take way to long to get there. Last year we got a doberman. Figured she could help. Well, our best friends came over and the dog nipped their daughter in the face. She's fine but no more dog (dog went back to breeder). (what a backfire that turned out to be)

i thnk hunting for sport is so wrong and just unnecessary when there are supermarkets that have it prepared for you. oy, it gets me so mad. there is no need to kill Bambi
First of all, I have to say that I agree that it is absolutely wrong for hunters to tresspass on private property, hunt in areas that are obviously civilian or act in any way that is potentially dangerous.
But, I have to say that I grew up in a family that has always hunted. When my father or brother shot a deer, we would eat it. It would practically feed a family of four for an entire winter. It's not the cruel and disgusting thing that you think it is. Do you think shooting a deer is less humane than the way animals that are 'prepared in supermarkets' are slaughtered? I could go on and on about controlling the deer population and consuming hormone-free meat...but the bottom line is that not everyone who hunts is barbaric and comments like yours are offensive to some. And, as for the comment about being too lazy to go to the Stop and Shop...well, now, do you think it's about laziness really? If it were then there was no way my dad would've gotten up at 4am in freezing temperatures to sit in a tree all day waiting for a shot...

Re: Had to Vent!
The situation truly sucks, it's not like you can even put spot lights up either because that won't work for the deers. Sorry I wish there was an easy solution to the problem! Did you try calling your state legislator- tell them how dangerous this is for your children!

BRAVO - VERYVERY WELL SAID. Hunting is considered a 'sport' just like fishing. If you are going to eat what you catch then there is nothing wrong with hunting deer, rabbit, duck or turkey any other game animal. It's no less humane than slaughtering cows and chickens for your stop & shop spree!
As for hunting AFTER SEASON IS OVER or hunting on PRIVATE PROPERTY - it is wrong and the illegal tresspassers should be removed and fully prosecuted. Guns and richocheting bullets can be very dangerous in a populated area.

Re: Had to Vent!
Wow. I thought it was illegal to hunt within a certain distance of residences? Maybe I’m thinking Texas again. It’s dangerous to be shooting guns where those bullets (which are meant to fly long distance) can ‘miss’ it’s target and travel straight through an unsuspecting bystander!
This is outrageous! Can’t be right!

Yes, but that is not what they are doing! They are coming on my property in the afternoon and discharging their guns within 300 feet of my house. Thus I call them lazy (lazy hunters). Actually they are not hunters because the deer will come right up to you. They do this and shoot them at point blank range. This is not sport. It is dangerous (for me and my family) and illegal!
